Ὅτε κατῆλθες πρὸς τὸν θάνατον, ἡ ζωὴ ἡ ἀθάνατος, τότε τὸν ᾅδην ἐνέκρωσας, τῇ ἀστραπῇ τῆς θεότητος· ὅτε δὲ καὶ τοὺς τεθνεῶτας, ἐκ τῶν καταχθονίων ἀνέστησας, πᾶσαι αἱ δυνάμεις τῶν ἐπουρανίων ἐκραύγαζον· Ζωοδότα Χριστέ, ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν δόξα σοι.	When You descended unto Death, O Lord, You who are immortal Life put Hades to death, by the lightning of Your divinity. When he took down Your immaculate Body from the Cross, the honorable Joseph wrapped it in a clean linen shroud with spices and laid it for burial in a new tomb. Ταῖς Μυροφόροις γυναιξί, παρὰ τὸ μνῆμα ἐπιστάς, ὁ Ἄγγελος ἐβόα· Τὰ μύρα τοῖς θνητοῖς ὑπάρχει ἁρμόδια· Χριστὸς δὲ διαφθορᾶς ἐδείχθη ἀλλότριος· ἀλλὰ κραυγάσατε· Ἀνέστη ὁ Κύριος, παρέχων τῷ κόσμῳ τὸ μέγα ἔλεος.	The Angel who had come to the sepulcher said to the Myrrh-bearing women, “Ointments are appropriate for mortal men; but Christ is indeed a stranger to decay. Now go proclaim that the Lord has risen and granted to the world the great mercy.” [GOASD]

Τὰ μύρα τῆς ταφῆς σου, αἱ γυναῖκες κομίσασαι, λαθραίως πρὸς τὸ μνῆμα παρεγένοντο ὄρθριαι, τῶν Ἰουδαίων δειλῶσαι τὴν αὐθάδειαν· καὶ στρατιωτῶν προορῶσαι τὴν ἀσφάλειαν· ἀλλὰ φύσις ἀσθενὴς τὴν ἀνδρείαν ἐνίκησεν· ὅτι γνώμη συμπαθὴς τῷ Θεῷ εὐηρέστησε· προσφόρως οὖν ἐκραύγαζον· Ἀνάστα Κύριε, βοήθησον ἡμῖν, καὶ λύτρωσαι ἡμᾶς, ἕνεκεν τοῦ ὀνόματός σου.	The women came secretly to Your tomb, bringing spices to anoint You at early dawn, fearing the severity of the Jewish leaders, and dreading the security of the guard of soldiers. Yet their frail nature prevailed over manliness, for pleasing to God were their sympathetic sentiments. And fittingly they cried aloud, “Arise, O Lord; help us, and redeem us for Your name’s sake.” [GOASD]

Ὁ σοφίσας ὑπὲρ ῥήτορας τοὺς ἁλιεῖς, καὶ ἐκπέμψας ὥσπερ κήρυκας πάσῃ τῇ γῇ, ἀφάτῳ φιλανθρωπίᾳ, Χριστὲ ὁ Θεός, διʼ αὐτῶν κραταίωσον τὴν Ἐκκλησίαν σου, καὶ τοῖς πιστοῖς κατάπεμψον τὴν εὐλογίαν σου, ὁ μόνος ἐλεήμων καὶ φιλάνθρωπος.	You made the Fishermen wiser than orators, and sent them as preachers over all the earth, in Your ineffable benevolence, O Christ our God. Φωνῆς θεϊκῆς, ἀκούσας προσκαλούσης σε, ἀγάπην πατρός, παρεῖδες καὶ προσέδραμες, τῷ Χριστῷ Ἰάκωβε, μετὰ καὶ τοῦ συγγόνου σου ἔνδοξε, μεθʼ οὗ καὶ ἠξιώθης ἰδεῖν, Κυρίου τὴν θείαν Μεταμόρφωσιν.	You heard the voice of God calling you ⁄ and turned away from the love of your father. ⁄ With your kinsman you hastened after Christ, glorious James. ⁄⁄ with him, you were counted worthy to behold the Lord’s divine Transfiguration!
