Τέκνον Τιμόθεε, ἐν μεγάλῃ οἰκίᾳ οὐκ ἔστι μόνον σκεύη χρυσᾶ καὶ ἀργυρᾶ, ἀλλὰ καὶ ξύλινα καὶ ὀστράκινα, καὶ ἃ μὲν εἰς τιμήν, ἃ δὲ εἰς ἀτιμίαν. ἐὰν οὖν τις ἐκκαθάρῃ ἑαυτὸν ἀπὸ τούτων, ἔσται σκεῦος εἰς τιμήν, ἡγιασμένον καὶ εὔχρηστον τῷ δεσπότῃ, εἰς πᾶν ἔργον ἀγαθὸν ἡτοιμασμένον. τὰς δὲ νεωτερικὰς ἐπιθυμίας φεῦγε, δίωκε δὲ δικαιοσύνην, πίστιν, ἀγάπην, εἰρήνην μετὰ τῶν ἐπικαλουμένων τὸν Κύριον ἐκ καθαρᾶς καρδίας. τὰς δὲ μωρὰς καὶ ἀπαιδεύτους ζητήσεις παραιτοῦ, εἰδὼς ὅτι γεννῶσι μάχας· δοῦλον δὲ Κυρίου οὐ δεῖ μάχεσθαι, ἀλλ᾽ ἤπιον εἶναι πρὸς πάντας, διδακτικόν, ἀνεξίκακον, ἐν πρᾳότητι παιδεύοντα τοὺς ἀντιδιατιθεμένους, μήποτε δῷ αὐτοῖς ὁ Θεὸς μετάνοιαν εἰς ἐπίγνωσιν ἀληθείας, καὶ ἀνανήψωσιν ἐκ τῆς τοῦ διαβόλου παγίδος, ἐζωγρημένοι ὑπ᾽ αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ ἐκείνου θέλημα.	Timothy, my son, in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and earthenware, and some for noble use, some for ignoble. If any one purifies himself from what is ignoble, then he will be a vessel for noble use, consecrated and useful to the master of the house, ready for any good work. So shun youthful passions and aim at righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call upon the Lord from a pure heart. Have nothing to do with stupid, senseless controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kindly to every one, an apt teacher, forbearing, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant that they will repent and come to know the truth, and they may escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will. [RSV]

Now there were seven brothers; the first took a wife, and died without children; and the second married the woman, and he died childless, and the third took her, and likewise all seven left no children and died. Afterward the woman also died. In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife will the woman be? For the seven had her as wife.” And Jesus said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage; but those who are accounted worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, for they cannot die any more, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living; for all live to him.” And some of the scribes answered, “Teacher, you have spoken well.” For they no longer dared to ask him any question. But he said to them, “How can they say that the Messiah is David’s son? For David himself says in the Book of Psalms, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, till I make your enemies a stool for your feet.’ David thus calls him Lord; so how is he his son?” [RSV]

Brethren, we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter. Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word. Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed on and triumph, as it did among you, and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men; for not all have faith. But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things which we command. May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ. [RSV]

Τῇ Ζʹ τοῦ αὐτοῦ μηνὸς μνήμη τοῦ ὁσίου Πατρὸς ἡμῶν Ἀμβροσίου, Ἐπισκόπου Μεδιολάνων.	On December 7 we commemorate our devout Father St. Ambrose Bishop of Milan.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ μνήμη τοῦ ἁγίου Μάρτυρος Ἀθηνοδώρου.	On this day we also commemorate the holy Martyr Athenodoros.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ ὁ ἅγιος Νεόφυτος, ἐν τῇ θαλάσσῃ βληθείς, τελειοῦται.	On this day Saint Neophytos died when he was thrown into the sea.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ ὁ ἅγιος Δομέτιος ξίφει τελειοῦται.	On this day Saint Dometios died by the sword.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ οἱ ἅγιοι Ἰσίδωρος, Ἀκεψιμᾶς, καὶ Λέων, πυρὶ τελειοῦνται.	In this day Saints Isidore, Acepsimas, and Leo died by fire.

Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ οἱ ἅγιοι Μάρτυρες Γαϊανὸς καὶ Γάϊος, πυρὶ τελειοῦνται.	On this day the holy Martyrs Gaianos and Gaius died by fire.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ οἱ ἅγιοι Τριακόσιοι Μάρτυρες, οἱ ἐν Αφρικῇ, ξίφει τελειοῦνται.	On this day the holy 300 Martyrs, who were in Africa, died by the sword.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ ὁ ὅσιος Ἰγνάτιος, ὁ πλησίον τῶν Βλαχερνῶν κείμενος, ἐν εἰρήνῃ τελειοῦται.	On this day devout St. Ignatius, who was near Blachernae, reposed in peace.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ μνήμη τοῦ ὁσίου Πατρὸς ἡμῶν Παύλου Μοναχοῦ, τοῦ ὑποτακτικοῦ.	On this day we also commemorate our devout father Paul the Monk, the subordinate.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ μνήμη τῶν ἁγίων Μαρτύρων Πρίσκου, Μαρτίνου, καὶ Νικολάου· ὧν ὁ μὲν λιμῷ, ὁ δὲ πέλυξι κατακοπείς, ὁ δὲ τρίτος διὰ πυρός, ἐτελειώθησαν. Ἡ δὲ Σύναξις αὐτῶν τελεῖται πλησίον τοῦ τείχους τῶν Βλαχερνῶν.	On this day we also commemorate the holy Martyrs Priscus, Martin, and Nicholas; the first (Priscus) was starved, the second (Martin) cut to pieces with an axe, and the third (Nicholas) died by fire. The services in their honor were held near the wall of Blachernae.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ τὰ Ἐγκαίνια τῆς Ὑπεραγίας Θεοτόκου, ἐν τοῖς Κουράτορος.	On this day was the Consecration of the Church of the Most Holy Theotokos at the Curator.

Κανόνας Νηστείας	Fasting Rule
