Θεὸς Κύριος καὶ ἐπέφανεν ἡμῖν. Εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἐν ὀνόματι Κυρίου. |
God is the Lord, and He revealed Himself to us. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. [SAAS] |
Στίχ. αʹ. Ἐξομολογεῖσθε τῷ Κυρίῳ καὶ ἐπικαλεῖσθε τὸ ὄνομα τὸ ἅγιον αὐτοῦ. |
Verse 1: Give thanks to the Lord and call upon His holy name. |
Στίχ. βʹ. Πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ἐκύκλωσάν με, καὶ τῷ ὀνόματι Κυρίου ἠμυνάμην αὐτούς. |
Verse 2: All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I defended myself against them. |
Στίχ. γʹ. Παρὰ Κυρίου ἐγένετο αὕτη καὶ ἔστι θαυμαστὴ ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς ἡμῶν. |
Verse 3: And this came about from the Lord, and it is wonderful in our eyes. |

|
Οἱ Μάρτυρές σου Κύριε, ἐν τῇ ἀθλήσει αὐτῶν, στεφάνους ἐκομίσαντο τῆς ἀφθαρσίας, ἐκ σοῦ τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν· σχόντες γὰρ τὴν ἰσχύν σου, τοὺς τυράννους καθεῖλον, ἔθραυσαν καὶ δαιμόνων, τὰ ἀνίσχυρα θράση. Αὐτῶν ταῖς ἱκεσίαις, Χριστὲ ὁ Θεός, σῶσον τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμῶν. |
Your Martyrs, O Lord, were worthily awarded by You * the crowns of incorruption, in that they contested for You our immortal God. * Since they possessed Your power, they defeated the tyrants, * dashing the demons’ powerless displays of defiance. * O Christ God, at their fervent entreaties, save our souls. [SD] |

Παρθένε πανάμωμε, Μήτηρ Χριστοῦ τοῦ Θεοῦ, ῥομφαία διῆλθέ σου, τὴν παναγίαν ψυχήν, ἡνίκα σταυρούμενον, ἔβλεψας ἑκουσίως, τὸν Υἱὸν καὶ Θεόν σου· ὅν περ εὐλογημένη, δυσωποῦσα μὴ παύσῃ, συγχώρησιν πταισμάτων, ἡμῖν δωρήσασθαι. |
O Mother of Christ our God, all-blameless Virgin most pure, * as Symeon told, a sword pierced through your all-holy soul * when you saw your Son and God * crucified by transgressors of His own will, O Lady. * Cease not to importune Him, * that He grant the forgiveness * of failings to us your servants, * O only most-blessed one. [SD] |

Remembering our all-holy, immaculate, most blessed, and glorious Lady, the Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary, with all the saints, let us commend ourselves and one another and our whole life to Christ our God. |

O Christ God, who for me endured being nailed to the Cross, accept my vigilant praise, and save me, in Your benevolence for humanity. [SD] |

O Christ God, the commander of the bodiless hosts, You know the laziness of my soul. By Your Cross, save me, for You are benevolent. [SD] |

Τῷ Σταυρῷ τοῦ Υἱοῦ σου ἀεὶ φρουρούμενοι, τὰς προσβολὰς Παρθένε τῶν δαιμόνων ἐκκλίνομεν· διό σε κατὰ χρέος, ἀνυμνοῦντες δοξάζομεν, Θεοτόκε πανύμνητε. |
O Virgin, as we are ever shielded by the Cross of your Son, we turn away from the assaults of demons. Therefore, we dutifully extol and glorify you, O all-lauded Theotokos. [SD] |

O Christ, You gave power to the wood of Your holy Cross, * for it is more luminous than flames of fire and more caustic; * for it burns away the sins of those in illness, * and it illumines the hearts of those extolling * Your voluntary crucifixion. O Christ our God, glory to You! [GOASD] |

Verse: God is our King before the ages; He worked salvation in the midst of the earth. |

Ἡ Ἐκκλησία βοᾷ σοι Χριστὲ ὁ Θεός, ἐν κέδρῳ καὶ πεύκῃ καὶ κυπαρίσσῳ προσκυνοῦσά σε· Νίκας τοῖς βασιλεῦσιν ἡμῶν, διὰ τῆς Θεοτόκου δωρούμενος, ἐλέησον ἡμᾶς. |
The Church worships You, O Christ God, and venerates the cedar, pine, and cypress. And she prays to You, “Grant success to our government, through the Theotokos, and have mercy on us.” [GOASD] |

Εἰ καὶ μητέρα σε ἡ κτίσις ἐγνώρισεν, ἀλλὰ παρθένον σε ὁ Πλάστης ἀνέδειξεν· ἔτεκες γὰρ ἐν σαρκὶ Χριστὸν τὸν Θεόν, τὸν Σωτῆρα τῶν ψυχῶν ἡμῶν. |
Creation knew you to be a mother, but the Creator showed you be a virgin, when you physically gave birth to Christ God, the Savior of our souls. [SD] |

O Christ our God, for us You accepted painful crucifixion, accept us as we extol Your Passion and save us. [SD] |

Ἀγαλλιᾶσθε δίκαιοι, εὐφραινέσθω τὰ οὐράνια, ἐπὶ γῆς γὰρ οἱ Μάρτυρες ἀγωνισάμενοι, τὸν ἐχθρὸν κατεπάτησαν, καὶ τῶν εἰδώλων τὴν πλάνην κατήργησαν· σκιρτάτω ἡ Ἐκκλησία, τὰ νικητήρια ἑορτάζουσα, τῷ ἀθλοθέτῃ καὶ μόνῳ, νικοποιῷ Χριστῷ τῷ Θεῷ, τῷ παρέχοντι τῷ κόσμῳ τὸ μέγα ἔλεος. |
Be glad, O you righteous; let the heavens sing for joy. For when the Martyrs competed, they trampled the enemy, and they brought down the deception of the idols. Let the Church leap for joy, as she celebrates the Judge of the contest, Christ our God, who alone confers victory, and who grants the world the great mercy. [SD] |

Christ our God was crucified for us, and He brought down the dominion of death. O Virgin Theotokos, unceasingly entreat Him to save our souls. [SD] |

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression. Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me. Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice. Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your guiding Spirit. I will teach transgressors Your ways, and the ungodly shall turn back to You. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall greatly rejoice in Your righteousness. O Lord, You shall open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise. For if You desired sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with whole burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken and humbled heart God will not despise. Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built; then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings; then shall they offer young bulls on Your altar. Ἡ ἁγία μνήμη σου, τὴν οἰκουμένην εὐφραίνει, συγκαλοῦσα ἅπαντας, ἐν τῷ πανσέπτῳ ναῷ σου, ἔνθα νῦν, μετʼ εὐφροσύνης συναθροισθέντες, ᾄσμασι, σὰς ἀριστείας Πλάτων ὑμνοῦμεν, καὶ ἐν πίστει ἐκβοῶμεν· Βαρβάρων ῥῦσαι τὴν πόλιν σου Ἅγιε. |
Your all-holy memory, * brings great delight to the whole world, * and to your all-sacred church * it has invited all people. * Now as we have congregated there with rejoicing, * singing hymns we praise your virtues, O Martyr Plato, * and with faith we cry out saying, * Rescue your city from barbarous enemies. Τῶν Ἑλλήνων λιπὼν ἅπασαν τὴν ματαιότητα, τῶν Χριστοῦ Μαθητῶν τὰ ψυχωφελῆ διδάγματα ἠγάπησε λίαν Πλάτων ὁ θεόφρων. Διὸ καὶ ὤφθη πᾶσιν αἰδέσιμος, καὶ ἄγκυρα πίστεως ἐν τῇ πατρίδι, ἧς καὶ ἡ κλῆσις σαφῶς Ἄγκυρα ὑπάρχει. Καλῶς γὰρ τοῦτον ἐκθρεψαμένη, βεβαίαν σκέπην κατʼ ἐχθρῶν, καὶ ἀντιλήπτορα θερμὸν ἐν πολέμοις εὑρίσκει, καθʼ ἑκάστην ἐκβοῶσα πρὸς αὐτόν· Βαρβάρων ῥῦσαι τὴν πόλιν σου Ἅγιε. |
The godly-minded Plato put behind him all the vanity of the Pagans, when he fell in love with the soul-edifying teachings of Christ’s disciples. Thus he was considered respectable by all, and he was an anchor of faith in his homeland, which was none other than Ancyra. She nurtured him well, and now she has in him a sure protection against enemies and an ardent helper in times of war. And every day she cries out to him, “O Saint, rescue your city from barbarous foes.” [SD] |

On this day we also commemorate the holy Martyr Romanos. |
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ τὸ Ἅγιον νήπιον, ἐρωτιθὲν παρὰ τοῦ ἐπάρχου, Ποῖον δεῖ σέβειν Θεόν, καὶ εἰπόν, Τὸν Χριστόν, ξίφει τελειοῦται. |
On this day the holy infant, who was asked by the governor, “Which God ought one to worship?” and then replied, “Christ,” was killed by the sword. |

On this day we also commemorate the holy Martyr and Deacon Romanos of Palestine. |

May Christ our true God, through the intercessions of His all-pure and all-immaculate holy Mother, the power of the precious and life-giving Cross, the protection of the honorable, bodiless powers of heaven, the supplications of the honorable, glorious prophet and forerunner John the Baptist, of the holy, glorious, and praiseworthy apostles, of the holy, glorious, and triumphant martyrs, of our righteous and God-bearing fathers, (local patron saint); of the holy and righteous ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, and the holy Martyr Plato, whose memory we are observing, and of all the saints, have mercy on us and save us, as He is good, benevolent, and merciful God. |
