In Your kingdom. Remember us, O Lord, when You come in Your kingdom. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. [RSV]

Ὡραῖος ἦν καὶ καλὸς εἰς βρῶσιν, ὁ ἐμὲ θανατώσας καρπός· Χριστός ἐστι τὸ ξύλον τῆς ζωῆς, ἐξ οὗ φαγὼν οὐ θνῄσκω, ἀλλὰ βοῶ σὺν τῷ λῃστῇ· Μνήσθητί μου Κύριε, ἐν τῇ Βασιλείᾳ σου.

The fruit that killed me of old was good for food and beautiful to contemplate. But Christ is the very tree of life, from which I eat and die not. And echoing the Robber’s words, I cry out, “Remember me in Your kingdom, O Lord.” [SD]

Ἐν τῷ Σταυρῷ ὑψωθεὶς οἰκτίρμον, τοῦ Ἀδὰμ τὸ χειρόγραφον, τῆς πάλαι ἁμαρτίας ἐξήλειψας, καὶ ἔσωσας ἐκ πλάνης, ἄπαν τὸ γένος τῶν βροτῶν· ὅθεν ἀνυμνοῦμέν σε, εὐεργέτα Κύριε.

When You, O merciful Lord, were lifted on the Cross, You cancelled and erased the bond and record of the primal sin of Adam, and You saved us, the human race, from all deceit. Therefore we extol You, our Benefactor and Lord. [SD]

Μακάριοι οἱ εἰρηνοποιοί, ὅτι αὐτοὶ Υἱοὶ Θεοῦ κληθήσονται.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. [RSV]

Προσήλωσας ἐν Σταυρῷ Οἰκτίρμον, τὰς ἡμῶν ἁμαρτίας Χριστέ, καὶ τῷ σῷ θανάτῳ, τὸν θάνατον ἐνέκρωσας, ἐγείρας τοὺς τεθνεῶτας ἐκ νεκρῶν· ὅθεν προσκυνοῦμέν σου, τὴν σεπτὴν Ἀνάστασιν.

You nailed our sins to the Cross, O Master all-compassionate Lord Jesus Christ; and You put death to death by Your death and also resurrected from the dead those who had died. Therefore we all worship You and Your resurrection, O God. [SD]

Μακάριοι οἱ δεδιωγμένοι ἕνεκεν δικαιοσύνης, ὅτι αὐτῶν ἐστιν ἡ Βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. [RSV]

Ἐξέχεε τὸν ἰὸν ὁ ὄφις, ἀκοαῖς ταῖς τῆς Εὔας ποτέ, Χριστὸς δὲ ἐν τῷ ξύλῳ τοῦ Σταυροῦ, ἐπήγασε τῷ κόσμῳ, τῆς ζωῆς τὸν γλυκασμόν. Μνήσθητί μου Κύριε, ἐν τῇ Βασιλείᾳ σου.

The serpent spat out the bitter poison into the ears of Eve of old. But Christ, on the tree of the Cross, poured out onto the world sweetness of eternal life. I cry out, “Remember me in Your kingdom, O Lord.” [SD]

Μακάριοι ἐστὲ ὅταν ὀνειδίσωσιν ὑμᾶς, καὶ διώξωσι, καὶ εἴπωσι πᾶν πονηρὸν ῥῆμα καθʼ ὑμῶν, ψευδόμενοι ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ.

Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely [for my sake]. [RSV]

Ἐν μνήματι ὡς θνητὸς ἐτέθης, ἡ ζωὴ τῶν ἁπάντων Χριστέ, καὶ ἔθλασας τοῦ ᾅδου τοὺς μοχλούς, καὶ ἀναστὰς ἐν δόξῃ, τριήμερος ὡς δυνατός, πάντας κατεφώτισας. Δόξα τῇ ἐγέρσει σου.

They buried You in a tomb, O Savior, as one mortal, Christ the life of all. You smashed the bars of Hades and its gates, and then on the third day You rose, as the almighty God, and illumined everyone. Glory to Your resurrection! [SD]

Χαίρετε καὶ ἀγαλλιᾶσθε, ὅτι ὁ μισθὸς ὑμῶν πολὺς ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς.

Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven. [RSV]

Ὁ Κύριος ἀναστὰς τριήμερος ἐκ νεκρῶν, ἐδωρήσατο εἰρήνην τὴν ἰδίαν τοῖς μαθηταῖς, καὶ τούτους εὐλογήσας, ἐξαπέστειλεν εἰπών· Πάντας προσαγάγετε, εἰς τὴν Βασιλείαν μου.

When Christ the Savior had truly risen from the dead on the third day He gave to His disciples and His friends His peace; and He blessed them and sent them out commanding them: “Make disciples of all men, and bring them to my kingdom.” [SD]

Φῶς ὁ Πατήρ, φῶς ὁ Υἱὸς καὶ Λόγος, φῶς τὸ Πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον, ἀλλʼ ἓν φῶς τὰ τρία· εἷς γὰρ Θεός, ἐν τρισὶ μὲν προσώποις, μιᾷ δὲ φύσει καὶ ἀρχῇ, ἄτμητος, ἀσύγχυτος, πέλων προαιώνιος.

Light is the Father; the Son and Logos is light; the Holy Spirit is light. The three are one uncreated light, one God in three persons, and one in nature, one in rule, undivided, unconfused, pre-eternal single God. [SD]

Ἐκύησας τὸν Υἱὸν καὶ Λόγον τοῦ Πατρός, ἐν σαρκὶ ἐπὶ γῆς, ὡς οἶδε Θεοτόκε ὁ αὐτός· διὸ Παρθενομῆτορ, οἱ θεωθέντες διὰ σοῦ· Χαῖρέ σοι κραυγάζομεν, τῶν Χριστιανῶν ἡ ἐλπίς.

On earth you carried and bore the Father’s Son and Logos, when He became flesh, as He knew how, all-holy Theotokos. Therefore, Virgin Mother, we who are deified through you, cry aloud, saluting you: Hope of Christians all, rejoice! [SD]

You destroyed death by Your Cross, You opened Paradise to the Robber. You turned the Myrrh-bearing Women’s lament into joy, and You commanded Your Apostles to preach that You rose, O Christ God, granting the world the great mercy. [GOASD]

Ὁ καθαρώτατος ναὸς τοῦ Σωτῆρος, ἡ πολυτίμητος παστὰς καὶ Παρθένος, τὸ ἱερὸν θησαύρισμα τῆς δόξης τοῦ Θεοῦ, σήμερον εἰσάγεται, ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ Κυρίου, τὴν χάριν συνεισάγουσα, τὴν ἐν Πνεύματι Θείῳ· ἣν ἀνυμνοῦσιν Ἄγγελοι Θεοῦ· Αὕτη ὑπάρχει σκηνὴ ἐπουράνιος.

The Savior’s most pure and immaculate temple, the very precious bridal chamber and Virgin, who is the sacred treasure of the glory of God, on this day is introduced into the House of the Lord, and with herself she brings the grace in the divine Spirit. She is extolled by the Angels of God. A heavenly tabernacle is she. [SD]

And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near; for through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are built into it for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. At that time, a lawyer stood up to put Jesus to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the law? How do you read?” And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” And he said to him, “You have answered right; do this, and you will live.” But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion, and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’ Which of these three, do you think, proved neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” He said, “The one who showed mercy on him.” And Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.” [RSV]

   

   

Ὕμνος εἰς τὴν Θεοτόκον.

Hymn to the Theotokos.

Ἄξιόν ἐστιν ὡς ἀληθῶς μακαρίζειν σε τὴν Θεοτόκον, τὴν ἀειμακάριστον καὶ παναμώμητον καὶ μητέρα τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν. Τὴν τιμιωτέραν τῶν Χερουβεὶμ καὶ ἐνδοξοτέραν ἀσυγκρίτως τῶν Σεραφείμ, τὴν ἀδιαφθόρως Θεὸν Λόγον τεκοῦσαν, τὴν ὄντως Θεοτόκον, σὲ μεγαλύνομεν.

It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.

Εἴδομεν τὸ φῶς τὸ ἀληθινόν, ἐλάβομεν Πνεῦμα ἐπουράνιον, εὕρομεν πίστιν ἀληθῆ, ἀδιαίρετον Τριάδα προσκυνοῦντες· αὕτη γὰρ ἡμᾶς ἔσωσεν.

We have seen the true light; we have received the heavenly Spirit; we have found the true faith, worshiping the undivided Trinity, for the Trinity has saved us.

Δόξα σοι ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν, δόξα σοι.

Ὁ ἀναστὰς ἐκ νεκρῶν, Χριστὸς ὁ ἀληθινὸς Θεὸς ἡμῶν, ταῖς πρεσβείαις τῆς παναχράντου καὶ παναμώμου ἁγίας αὐτοῦ Μητρός, δυνάμει τοῦ τιμίου καὶ ζωοποιοῦ Σταυροῦ, προστασίαις τῶν τιμίων ἐπουρανίων δυνάμεων ἀσωμάτων, ἱκεσίαις τοῦ τιμίου, ἐνδόξου, προφήτου, προδρόμου καὶ βαπτιστοῦ Ἰωάννου, τῶν ἁγίων ἐνδόξων καὶ πανευφήμων ἀποστόλων, τῶν ἁγίων ἐνδόξων καὶ καλλινίκων μαρτύρων· τῶν ὁσίων καὶ θεοφόρων πατέρων ἡμῶν· (τοῦ ἁγίου τοῦ ναοῦ)· τῶν ἁγίων καὶ δικαίων θεοπατόρων Ἰωακεὶμ καὶ Ἄννης, καὶ τῶν ἁγίων Μαρτύρων καὶ Ὁμολογητῶν Γουρία, Σαμωνᾶ καὶ Ἀβίβου, ὧν καὶ τὴν μνήμην ἐπιτελοῦμεν· καὶ πάντων τῶν ἁγίων, ἐλεήσαι καὶ σώσαι ἡμᾶς, ὡς ἀγαθὸς καὶ φιλάνθρωπος καὶ ἐλεήμων Θεός.

May He who rose from the dead, Christ our true God, through the intercessions of His all-pure and all-immaculate holy Mother, the power of the precious and life-giving Cross, the protection of the honorable, bodiless powers of heaven, the supplications of the honorable, glorious prophet and forerunner John the Baptist, of the holy, glorious, and praiseworthy apostles, of the holy, glorious, and triumphant martyrs, of our righteous and God-bearing fathers, (local patron saint); of the holy and righteous ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, the holy and glorious Martyrs and Confessors Guria, Shamuna and Habib, whose memory we are observing, and of all the saints, have mercy on us and save us, as He is good, benevolent, and merciful God.

Fasting Rule

Κατάλυσις ἰχθύος.

Fish: fish, oil and wine are allowed. Refrain from meat, dairy and eggs.

Εἶναι ἡ νηστεία πρὸ τῶν Χριστουγέννων.

It is the Christmas fast.
