Michael and Gabriel, foremost-ranking leaders * of the celestial and high-throned awesome beings * of divine glory, you are their supreme Commanders. * O Ministers of the Master, with all the hosts * of bodiless powers ceaselessly intercede * on behalf of the universe, entreating earnestly that He * forgive our sins, that we might find * grace and mercy on Judgment Day. O Lady, pure, graced by God, and ever-blessed, * join with the Powers in the heavens, the Archangels, * all the Bodiless Hosts, and ceaselessly petition * the Lord, who in His compassion was born from you, entreating on our behalf that before the end * He will grant us correction and the expiation of our sins, * amendment of our way of life, so that mercy await us all. Resurrectional Evlogetaria.

Mode pl. 1.

Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.

When the hosts of the Angels saw how You were accounted among the dead, they all marveled. You, O Savior, are the One who destroyed the might of death; and when You arose You raised Adam with yourself and from Hades liberated everyone. [SD]

Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.

“Why do you mingle the ointments with your tears full of pity, O women disciples?” Thus the Angel who was shining in the tomb cried to the myrrh-bearing women. “See for yourselves the empty tomb and understand, that the Savior has risen from the sepulcher.”

Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.

Very early in the morning, the myrrh-bearing women were hastening to Your tomb lamenting. But the Angel appeared to them and uttered, “The time for lamentation has ended; weep no more. Go announce the Resurrection to the Apostles.”

When the myrrh-bearing women had come with their spices to Your sepulcher, O Savior, they heard the voice of an Angel clearly speaking to them, “Why do you account among the dead the One who lives? For as God, He has risen from the sepulcher.”

We bow down in worship to the Father and His Son and the Holy Spirit, the Holy Trinity, one in essence; and we cry aloud with the Seraphim: Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O Lord.

Giving birth to the Giver of life, O Virgin, you delivered Adam from sin, and to Eve you have rendered joy in place of sorrow. He who from you became incarnate, God and man, has directed to life him who fell from it.

O Giver of Life, we the faithful extol and venerate Your cross and burial; for You, O immortal, omnipotent God, overpowered and vanquished the netherworld. You crushed the gates of Hades, O God, and You destroyed the power of death. We here on earth who aspire to sing praises * and celebrate the hosts of bodiless Angels, * let us imitate their holiness as far as possible, * by mortifying our bodies’ members and all the flesh, * and pray to them as our champions and our guards, * that they free us from all deceit of the invisible foe, * as we extol them solemnly, * so that we might find mercy from God. The tree of true eternal life has blossomed, O Christ. * For on Calvary planted, Your precious Cross * was watered by blood and water spilling from Your holy side; * it produced the fruit of life for us. [SD]

In Jericho in ancient times ⁄ Michael, chief captain of the hosts and great leader of the bodiless angels, ⁄ appeared to Joshua, son of nun, as he fought and helped him to victory. ⁄ Fighting by his side and taking strength from him, ⁄ the servant of the Lord took the fort with his weapons. [OCA]

In days of old the captain of the Bodiless Hosts ⁄ appeared to Zachariah the priest ⁄ bringing him the good tidings of a child. ⁄ He was Gabriel the great and divine archangel! ⁄ John was born in response to the word, ⁄ giving back speech to his father. [OCA]
