Ἐν τῇ Βασιλείᾳ σου μνήσθητι ἡμῶν Κύριε, ὅταν ἔλθῃς ἐν τῇ Βασιλείᾳ σου. Μακάριοι οἱ πτωχοὶ τῷ πνεύματι, ὅτι αὐτῶν ἐστιν ἡ Βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν.

In Your kingdom. Remember us, O Lord, when You come in Your kingdom. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [RSV]

Μακάριοι οἱ πενθοῦντες, ὅτι αὐτοὶ παρακληθήσονται.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. [RSV]

Μακάριοι οἱ πρᾳεῖς, ὅτι αὐτοὶ κληρονομήσουσι τὴν γῆν.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. [RSV]

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. [RSV]

Ἀθετήσαντα Χριστέ, τὴν ἐντολήν σου, τὸν προπάτορα Ἀδάμ, τοῦ Παραδείσου ἐξώρισας, τὸν δὲ Λῃστὴν Οἰκτίρμον, ὁμολογήσαντά σε ἐν Σταυρῷ, ἐν αὐτῷ εἰσῴκισας κράζοντα· Μνήσθητί μου Σωτήρ, ἐν τῇ Βασιλείᾳ σου.

When our primal father Adam disobeyed Your divine command, O Christ, You expelled him from Paradise. But when the faithful Robber while on the cross confessed You to be Lord, You restored him there, as he cried to You: “O Savior, when You come in Your kingdom, remember me.” [SD]

Τῷ πυρὶ τῶν αἰκισμῶν, προσομιλοῦντες, Ἀθλοφόροι τοῦ Χριστοῦ, δρόσον οὐράνιον εὕρατε, ἐπαναψυχοῦσάν τε, καὶ δυναμοῦσαν φέρειν τῆς σαρκός, τὰς ὀδύνας· ὅθεν κουφίζετε, πάντα πόνον ἀεί, ἀπὸ τῶν ψυχῶν ἡμῶν.

You were tortured and were thrown into the fire, * O Martyr Athletes of Christ, * and there instead found a heavenly dew, * refreshing and enabling * you to endure excruciating pain * in your bodies. Therefore you now relieve * every pain in our souls, when we pray to you with faith. [SD]

Μακάριοι ἐστὲ ὅταν ὀνειδίσωσιν ὑμᾶς, καὶ διώξωσι, καὶ εἴπωσι πᾶν πονηρὸν ῥῆμα καθʼ ὑμῶν, ψευδόμενοι ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ.

Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely [for my sake]. [RSV]

Ἱεράρχαι ἱεροί, Προφῆται ἔνδοξοι, Ὁσίων ἡ πληθύς, Γυναίων θείων ὁμήγυρις, ἐναθλησάντων πίστει, καὶ καθελόντων πλάνην τοῦ ἐχθροῦ, οὐρανίου δόξης ἐπέτυχον, ὧν πρεσβείαις Σωτήρ, οἴκτειρον τοὺς δούλους σου.

Holy Priests and Bishops and glorious Prophets, * the devout monastic Saints, * the godly Women who kept the faith, * the Martyrs who competed * and thus brought down the enemy’s deceit, * all received heavenly glory from You. * As they pray for us, Your servants, Savior pity us. [SD]

Χαίρετε καὶ ἀγαλλιᾶσθε, ὅτι ὁ μισθὸς ὑμῶν πολὺς ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς.

Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven. [RSV]

O believers, glorify the divine Monad, * unoriginate and one * and worshiped in three hypostases, * so that we may be granted * forgiveness of our sins and may receive * the kingdom of the Holy Trinity, * as we praise and extol Its infinite mercy on us. [SD]

The holy martyrs suffered painful tortures for Your sake, O Lord; be compelled by what they endured, and heal our every pain, we entreat You, O only benevolent God. [SD]

O Planter of creation, Lord, to You does the entire world bring as an offering the God-bearing martyr Saints, as being nature’s first fruits. At their earnest entreaties, keep Your Church in a state of profoundest peace, through the Theotokos, O Lord abundantly merciful. [SD]

Brethren, since we have such a hope, we are very bold, not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not see the end of what was being set aside. But their minds were hardened; for to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away. Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their heart; but when a man turns to the Lord the veil is removed. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another, for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit. At that time, Jesus entered Capernaum. Now a centurion had a slave who was dear to him, who was sick and at the point of death. When he heard of Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and heal his slave. And when they came to Jesus, they besought him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy to have you do this for him, for he loves our nation, and he built us our synagogue.” And Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, “Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; therefore I did not presume to come to you. But say the word, and let my servant be healed. For I am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me: and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my slave, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard this he marveled at him, and turned and said to the multitude that followed him, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.” And when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the slave well. Hymn to the Theotokos.

Ἄξιόν ἐστιν ὡς ἀληθῶς μακαρίζειν σε τὴν Θεοτόκον, τὴν ἀειμακάριστον καὶ παναμώμητον καὶ μητέρα τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν. Τὴν τιμιωτέραν τῶν Χερουβεὶμ καὶ ἐνδοξοτέραν ἀσυγκρίτως τῶν Σεραφείμ, τὴν ἀδιαφθόρως Θεὸν Λόγον τεκοῦσαν, τὴν ὄντως Θεοτόκον, σὲ μεγαλύνομεν.

It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.

We have seen the true light; we have received the heavenly Spirit; we have found the true faith, worshiping the undivided Trinity, for the Trinity has saved us.

May Christ our true God, through the intercessions of His all-pure and all-immaculate holy Mother, the power of the precious and life-giving Cross, the protection of the honorable, bodiless powers of heaven, the supplications of the honorable, glorious prophet and forerunner John the Baptist, of the holy, glorious, and praiseworthy apostles, of the holy, glorious, and triumphant martyrs, of our righteous and God-bearing fathers, (local patron saint); of the holy and righteous ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, of the holy Great-martyr Arethas and his companions, whose memory we observe; and of all the saints, have mercy on us and save us, as He is good, benevolent, and merciful God.
