In Your kingdom. Remember us, O Lord, when You come in Your kingdom. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [RSV]

Ἀθετήσαντα Χριστέ, τὴν ἐντολήν σου, τὸν προπάτορα Ἀδάμ, τοῦ Παραδείσου ἐξώρισας, τὸν δὲ Λῃστὴν Οἰκτίρμον, ὁμολογήσαντά σε ἐν Σταυρῷ, ἐν αὐτῷ εἰσῴκισας κράζοντα· Μνήσθητί μου Σωτήρ, ἐν τῇ Βασιλείᾳ σου.

When our primal father Adam disobeyed Your divine command, O Christ, You expelled him from Paradise. But when the faithful Robber while on the cross confessed You to be Lord, You restored him there, as he cried to You: “O Savior, when You come in Your kingdom, remember me.” [SD]

Μακάριοι οἱ πενθοῦντες, ὅτι αὐτοὶ παρακληθήσονται.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. [RSV]

Ἁμαρτήσαντας ἡμᾶς, τῇ τοῦ θανάτου, κατεδίκασας ἀρᾷ, ὁ Ζωοδότης καὶ Κύριος, ἐν δὲ τῷ σώματί σου, ἀναμαρτήτως Δέσποτα παθῶν, τοὺς θνητοὺς ἐζώωσας κράζοντας· Μνήσθητι καὶ ἡμῶν, ἐν τῇ Βασιλείᾳ σου.

When in Paradise we sinned, You condemned us and pronounced the curse of death, being the Lord and the Giver of life. But later, loving Master, You who are sinless suffered in the flesh, and You brought the dead back to life again, who shouted: “When You come in Your kingdom, remember us.” [SD]

Μακάριοι οἱ πρᾳεῖς, ὅτι αὐτοὶ κληρονομήσουσι τὴν γῆν.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. [RSV]

Θεοτοκίον.

Theotokion.

Χαῖρε ἡ πύλη τοῦ Θεοῦ, διʼ ἧς διῆλθε, σαρκωθεὶς ὁ Πλαστουργός, ἐσφραγισμένην φυλάξας σε. Χαῖρε νεφέλη κούφη, τὸν θεῖον ὄμβρον φέρουσα Χριστόν. Χαῖρε κλῖμαξ καὶ θρόνε οὐράνιε. Χαῖρε ὄρος σεπτόν, πῖον ἀλατόμητον.

Rejoice, the gate of God, through whom went the incarnate Creator, when He was born from you, and He kept you sealed. Rejoice, O swift and light cloud who brings the divine showers, namely Christ. Rejoice, O ladder to heaven and celestial throne. O rejoice, holy mountain, uncut and rich. [SD]

Μακάριοι οἱ ἐλεήμονες, ὅτι αὐτοὶ ἐλεηθήσονται.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. [RSV]

Γυναῖκά σε θνητήν, ἀλλʼ ὑπερφυῶς καὶ Μητέρα, Θεοῦ εἰδότες Πανάμωμε, οἱ κλεινοὶ Ἀπόστολοι, πεφρικυίαις ἥπτοντο χερσί, δόξῃ ἀπαστράπτουσαν, ὡς θεοδόχον σκῆνος θεώμενοι.

The glorious Apostles knew you to be a mortal woman, * and yet past nature the Mother of * God as well, O blameless one. * With hands atremble fearfully they touched * you whom they beheld to shine * with glory as the body that hosted God. [SD]

Μακάριοι ἐστὲ ὅταν ὀνειδίσωσιν ὑμᾶς, καὶ διώξωσι, καὶ εἴπωσι πᾶν πονηρὸν ῥῆμα καθʼ ὑμῶν, ψευδόμενοι ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ.

Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely [for my sake]. [RSV]

Ἐκ σοῦ ζωὴ ἀνατέταλκε, τὰς κλεῖς τῆς παρθενίας μὴ λύσασα· πῶς οὖν τὸ ἄχραντον, ζωαρχικόν τε σου σκήνωμα, τῆς τοῦ θανάτου πείρας γέγονε μέτοχον;

O Lady, Life had from you sprung forth * without disrupting seals of virginity. Therefore, how was it that * your spotless body, the source of life, * participated in the experience of death? [SD]

Χαίρετε καὶ ἀγαλλιᾶσθε, ὅτι ὁ μισθὸς ὑμῶν πολὺς ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς.

Ἐν τῇ Γεννήσει, τὴν παρθενίαν ἐφύλαξας. Ἐν τῇ Κοιμήσει, τὸν κόσμον οὐ κατέλιπες Θεοτόκε. Μετέστης πρὸς τὴν ζωήν, Μήτηρ ὑπάρχουσα τῆς ζωῆς, καὶ ταῖς πρεσβείαις ταῖς σαῖς λυτρουμένη, ἐκ θανάτου τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμῶν.

You gave birth yet preserved your virginity. You fell asleep in death yet did not desert the world, O Theotokos. You were transported to life, as you are Mother of Life and, by virtue of your intercessions, deliver our souls from death. [SD]

The Theotokos is undying in intercession.* Immovable is our hope in her for protection. * Neither death nor burial prevailed over her. * As she is Mother of Life, she was removed to life by Him, * the Lord who lived in her ever-virgin womb. [SD]

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. For I am the least of the apostles, unfit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God which is with me. At that time, a young man came up to Jesus, kneeling and saying, “Good Teacher, what good deed must I do, to have eternal life?” And he said to him, “Why do you call me good? One there is who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.” He said to him, “Which?” And Jesus said, “You shall not kill, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother, and You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” The young man said to him, “All these I have observed from my youth; what do I still lack?” Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful; for he had great possessions. And Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly, I say to you, it will be hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. May He who rose from the dead, Christ our true God, through the intercessions of His all-pure and all-immaculate holy Mother, the power of the precious and life-giving Cross, the protection of the honorable, bodiless powers of heaven, the supplications of the honorable, glorious prophet and forerunner John the Baptist, of the holy, glorious, and praiseworthy apostles, of the holy, glorious, and triumphant martyrs, of our righteous and God-bearing fathers, (local patron saint); of the holy and righteous ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, and of all the saints, have mercy on us and save us, as He is good, benevolent, and merciful God.
