Ἀδελφοί, τῷ Θεῷ χάρις τῷ πάντοτε θριαμβεύοντι ἡμᾶς ἐν τῷ Χριστῷ καὶ τὴν ὀσμὴν τῆς γνώσεως αὐτοῦ φανεροῦντι δι᾿ ἡμῶν ἐν παντὶ τόπῳ· ὅτι Χριστοῦ εὐωδία ἐσμὲν τῷ Θεῷ ἐν τοῖς σῳζομένοις καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἀπολλυμένοις, οἷς μὲν ὀσμὴ θανάτου εἰς θάνατον, οἷς δὲ ὀσμὴ ζωῆς εἰς ζωήν. καὶ πρὸς ταῦτα τίς ἱκανός; οὐ γάρ ἐσμεν ὡς οἱ λοιποὶ καπηλεύοντες τὸν λόγον τοῦ Θεοῦ, ἀλλ᾿ ὡς ἐξ εἰλικρινείας, ἀλλ᾿ ὡς ἐκ Θεοῦ κατενώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐν Χριστῷ λαλοῦμεν. Ἀρχόμεθα πάλιν ἑαυτοὺς συνιστάνειν; εἰ μὴ χρῄζομεν ὥς τινες συστατικῶν ἐπιστολῶν πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἢ ἐξ ὑμῶν συστατικῶν; ἡ ἐπιστολὴ ἡμῶν ὑμεῖς ἐστε, ἐγγεγραμμένη ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις ἡμῶν, γινωσκομένη καὶ ἀναγινωσκομένη ὑπὸ πάντων ἀνθρώπων, φανερούμενοι ὅτι ἐστὲ ἐπιστολὴ Χριστοῦ διακονηθεῖσα ὑφ᾿ ἡμῶν, ἐγγεγραμμένη οὐ μέλανι, ἀλλὰ Πνεύματι Θεοῦ ζῶντος, οὐκ ἐν πλαξὶ λιθίναις, ἀλλὰ ἐν πλαξὶ καρδίαις σαρκίναις.	Brethren, thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumph, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things? For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God’s word; but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ. Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some do, letters of recommendation to you, or from you? You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all men; and you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. Εἶπεν ὁ Κύριος πρὸς τοὺς ἐληλυθότας πρὸς αὐτὸν Ἰουδαίους· Οὐαὶ ὑμῖν, γραμματεῖς καὶ Φαρισαῖοι ὑποκριταί, ὅτι ἀποδεκατοῦτε τὸ ἡδύοσμον καὶ τὸ ἄνηθον καὶ τὸ κύμινον, καὶ ἀφήκατε τὰ βαρύτερα τοῦ νόμου, τὴν κρίσιν καὶ τὸν ἔλεον καὶ τὴν πίστιν· ταῦτα δὲ ἔδει ποιῆσαι κἀκεῖνα μὴ ἀφιέναι. ὁδηγοὶ τυφλοί, οἱ διϋλίζοντες τὸν κώνωπα, τὴν δὲ κάμηλον καταπίνοντες! The Lord said to the Jews who had come to him, “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law, justice and mercy and faith; these you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel! Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you cleanse the outside of the cup and of the plate, but inside they are full of extortion and rapacity. You blind Pharisee! first cleanse the inside of the cup and of the plate, that the outside also may be clean. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. Brethren, we know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the first-born among many brethren. And those whom he predestined he also called; and those whom he called he also justified; and those whom he justified he also glorified. What then shall we say to this? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, will he not also give us all things with him? Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies; who is to condemn? Is it Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us? Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Τῇ ΙΑʹ τοῦ αὐτου μηνὸς μνήμη τοῦ ἁγίου Μεγαλομάρτυρος Εὔπλου τοῦ Διακόνου.	On August 11, we commemorate the holy Great-martyr Euplus the Deacon.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ μνήμη τῶν Ἐγκαινίων τοῦ σεβασμίου καὶ περικαλλοῦς οἴκου καὶ θείου Ναοῦ τῆς ὑπεραγίας Δεσποίνης ἡμῶν Θεοτόκου τῆς Ἐλεούσης.	On this day we commemorate the consecration of the venerable and beautiful house and church of our most holy Lady Theotokos the Merciful.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ διήγησις περὶ τῆς ἀχειροποιήτου Εἰκόνος τοῦ Κυρίου καὶ Θεοῦ καὶ Σωτῆρος ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ.	On this day we relate the story about the Icon of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, which was not made by human hands.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἄθλησις τῶν ἁγίων Μαρτύρων Νεοφύτου, Γαΐου, Γαϊανοῦ, Ζήνωνος, Μάρκου, καὶ Μακαρίου. Τελεῖται δὲ ἡ αὐτῶν σύναξις ἐν τῷ ἐξαέρῳ οἴκῳ τῶν Ἁγίων ἐνδόξων καὶ θαυματουργῶν Ἀναργύρων Κοσμᾶ καὶ Δαμιανοῦ ἐν τοῖς Δαρείου.	On this day we commemorate the contest of the holy Martyrs Neophytos, Gaius, Gaianus, Zeno, Mark, and Macarios. Services in their honor were held in the chapel of the holy glorious and wonderworking Unmercenaries Cosmas and Damian, in the Quarter of Darius.
Ὁ Ὅσιος Πασσαρίων ἐν εἰρήνῃ τελειοῦται.	Devout St. Passarion died in peace.
Ὁ Ὅσιος Νήφων, ὁ ἐν τῇ κατὰ τὸν Ἄθω κοινοβιακῇ Μονῇ τοῦ Ἁγίου Διονυσίου ἀσκήσας, καὶ γενόμενος Πατριάρχης Κωνσταντινουπόλεως, ἐν εἰρήνῃ τελειοῦται.	Devout St. Niphon, who lived in asceticism in the cenobitic Monastery of St. Dionysius on Mt. Athos, and who became Patriarch of Constantinople, died in peace.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἡ ἀνάμνησις τοῦ ἐν Κερκύρᾳ ὑπερφυοῦς κατὰ Ἀγαρηνῶν θαύματος τοῦ ἐν ἁγίοις Πατρὸς ἡμῶν Σπυρίδωνος τοῦ θαυματουργοῦ.	On this day is the commemoration of the supernatural miracle that our father among the saints Spyridon did against the Hagarenes on the Island of Corfu.
