Let us honor the Cross of the Lord with solemn praise. * Let us sing hymns extolling His holy burial. * Let us highly glorify His resurrection from the dead. * For, being God, He raised the dead from the graves with himself. * He shined light on those in Hades, annihilating the power of death and the devil’s might. [GOASD]

Glory.

Lord, You who deadened death were described as being dead. You who emptied tombs had been buried in a tomb. Above, soldiers guarded the sepulcher; below, You resurrected the dead of all ages. Lord almighty and incomprehensible, glory to You! [GOASD]

I pray You to receive me in repentance, O God, and save me.” [GOASD]

Glory.

The villains had You crucified between the convicts. And they pierced Your side with a spear, O merciful Master. You accepted burial. You destroyed the gates of Hades, and You rose on the third day. The Women ran to see You, and they announced Your resurrection to the Apostles. Supremely exalted Savior, whom the Angels extol, O blessed Lord, glory to You! [GOASD]

Resurrectional Evlogetaria.

Mode pl. 1.

Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.

When the hosts of the Angels saw how You were accounted among the dead, they all marveled. You, O Savior, are the One who destroyed the might of death; and when You arose You raised Adam with yourself and from Hades liberated everyone. [SD]

Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.

“Why do you mingle the ointments with your tears full of pity, O women disciples?” Thus the Angel who was shining in the tomb cried to the myrrh-bearing women. “See for yourselves the empty tomb and understand, that the Savior has risen from the sepulcher.”

Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.

Very early in the morning, the myrrh-bearing women were hastening to Your tomb lamenting. But the Angel appeared to them and uttered, “The time for lamentation has ended; weep no more. Go announce the Resurrection to the Apostles.”

When the myrrh-bearing women had come with their spices to Your sepulcher, O Savior, they heard the voice of an Angel clearly speaking to them, “Why do you account among the dead the One who lives? For as God, He has risen from the sepulcher.”

We bow down in worship to the Father and His Son and the Holy Spirit, the Holy Trinity, one in essence; and we cry aloud with the Seraphim: Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O Lord.

Giving birth to the Giver of life, O Virgin, you delivered Adam from sin, and to Eve you have rendered joy in place of sorrow. He who from you became incarnate, God and man, has directed to life him who fell from it.

Saint of God, intercede for us.

Father Paisios, how can we worthily extol you, praising in song * the ascetic lifestyle, O devout one, that you chose? * What words shall we employ to sing of your love, which was ardent? * It truly suffered with everyone, * and provided comfort and sympathy. [SD]

Saint of God, intercede for us.

From early childhood you lived ascetically, aflame with love divine. * As an avid reader of biographies of Saints, * with fervor you aspired to imitate their amazing * angelic lifestyle and their great * supernatural struggles for virtue’s sake. [SD]

When Christ the Savior saw that wisely you escaped the storm of unbelief, * even at a young age, by your honorable faith, * He showed himself in light to you, and assured you that He is * the resurrection and life of all * who believe in Him as the Son of God. [SD]

On July 12, we commemorate our devout father Paisios the New of the Holy Mountain Athos, who reposed in peace in the year 1994.

Verses

Paisios lived alone for God alone;

But he lightened the pain of many who were troubled.

For being united to God through love,

He received the grace to comfort all.

On the twelfth, Paisios saw the never-setting light.

On this day we also commemorate the holy Martyrs Proclus and Hilary.

On this day we also commemorate our devout Father Michael Maleinus, the spiritual father of St. Athansius of Athos.
