Brethren, I am speaking the truth in Christ, I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit, that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brethren, my kinsmen by race. They are Israelites, and to them belong the sonship, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises; to them belong the patriarchs, and of their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed for ever. At that time, a ruler came and knelt before him, saying, “My daughter has just died; but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.” And Jesus rose and followed him, with his disciples. And behold, a woman who had suffered from a hemorrhage for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment; for she said to herself, “If I only touch his garment, I shall be made well.” Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well. And when Jesus came to the ruler’s house, and saw the flute players, and the crowd making a tumult, he said, “Depart; for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him. But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. And the report of this went through all that district. [RSV]

Before Me there was no other God, nor shall there be after Me. I am God, and besides Me there is no one who saves. I proclaimed, and I saved. I denounced foreign gods so there were none among you. The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and no torture will ever touch them. In the eyes of the undiscerning they seemed to have died, and their departure was considered to be misfortune, and their passage from us to be their destruction; but they are at peace. For though in man’s view they were punished, their hope is full of immortality. Though chastened in a few things, great kindness will be shown them, for God tested them and found them worthy of Himself. He tested them like gold in a furnace and accepted them as a whole burnt offering. In the time of their visitation they will shine forth, and they will run about like sparks through straw. They will judge nations and rule over peoples, and the Lord shall reign over them unto the ages. Those who trust in Him will understand truth, and the faithful shall continue with Him in love, because grace and mercy are upon His elect [and He watches over His holy ones]. [SAAS]

The righteous live forever, and their reward is with the Lord; and their care is by the Most High. Therefore they shall receive a kingly dwelling of dignity and a crown of beauty from the hand of the Lord, because He will shelter them with His right hand and protect them with His arm. He will take His zeal as His full armor and will turn His creation into weapons against His enemies. He will wear righteousness as a breastplate and put on impartial judgment as a helmet. He will take holiness as an unconquerable shield and sharpen His relentless wrath for a sword; and creation will fight with Him against the senseless. Well-aimed flashes of lightning will strike and leap to their object as from a well-drawn bow of clouds; and hailstones full of anger will be hurled as from an engine of war. The water of the sea will be vexed with them, and the rivers will wash over them severely. A powerful wind will oppose them, and like a storm it will winnow them away. Lawlessness will lay waste all the earth, and wrongdoing will overturn the thrones of rulers. Listen therefore, O kings, and understand; learn, O judges of the ends of the earth. Give ear, you that rule over multitudes, and take pride in yourself over a multitude of nations. For power was given to you from the Lord, and your lordship from the Most High. [SAAS]

Brethren, working together with him, we entreat you not to accept the grace of God in vain. We put no obstacle in any one’s way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry, but as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: through great endurance, in afflictions, hardships, calamities, beatings, imprisonments, tumults, labors, watching, hunger; by purity, knowledge, forbearance, kindness, the Holy Spirit, genuine love, truthful speech, and the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and for the left; in honor and dishonor, in ill repute and good repute. We are treated as impostors, and yet are true; as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold we live; as punished, and yet not killed; as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing everything. And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was at table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment, and standing behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.” And Jesus answering said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” And he answered, “What is it, Teacher?” “A certain creditor had two debtors; one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. When they could not pay, he forgave them both. Now which of them will love him more?” Simon answered, “The one, I suppose, to whom he forgave more.” And he said to him, “You have judged rightly.” Then turning toward the woman he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house, you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not ceased to kiss my feet. You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment. Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little.” And he said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” Then those who were at table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this, who even forgives sins?” And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” [RSV]

Τῇ ΙΑʹ τοῦ αὐτοῦ μηνός, Μνήμη τῆς Ἁγίας Μεγαλομάρτυρος καὶ πανευφήμου Εὐφημίας.	On July 11, we commemorate the Holy Great-martyr and all-famed Euphemia.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ, Μνήμη τοῦ Ἁγίου Μάρτυρος Κινδέου τοῦ πρεσβυτέρου.	On this day we also commemorate the holy Martyr Cindeus the Presbyter.
Ὁ Ὅσιος Λέων, ὁ ἐν τῇ Μάνδρᾳ, ἐν εἰρήνῃ τελειοῦται.	The devout Leo of the Sheepfold, reposed in peace.
Οἱ Ἅγιοι Μάρτυρες Μαρκιανὸς καὶ Μαρτυροκλῆς, ὁ μὲν μαχαίρᾳ, ὁ δὲ τοξευθείς, τελειοῦνται.	The holy Martyrs Marcian and Martyrocles died by the sword and by arrows respectively.
Ὁ Ὅσιος Νικόδημος, ὁ ἐν τοῖς ὁρίοις τῆς τοῦ Βατοπεδίου ἱερᾶς Μονῆς ἀσκήσας καὶ διδασκαλος τοῦ θείου Γρηγορίου τοῦ Παλαμᾶ χρηματίσας, διὰ τῆς κατὰ Χριστόν φιλοσοφίας, ἐν εἰρήνῃ τελειοῦται.	The devout Nicodemus, who lived in asceticism near the holy Monastery of Vatopedi (on Mt. Athos), and who was the teacher of St. Gregory Palamas in Christian philosophy, reposed in peace.
Ο Ἅγιος Νέος Ὁσιομάρτυς Νικόδημος, ὁ ἐν Ἐλβασανίῳ τῆς Ἀλβανίας μαρτυρήσας ἐν ἐτει ͵αψκβʹ (1722), ξίφει τελειοῦται.	The New Monastic Martyr Nicodemus, who witnessed in Elesvan, Albania in the year 1722, died by the sword.
Ὁ Ἅγιος Νέος Ὁσιομάρτυς Νεκτάριος, ὁ ἐκ Βρυούλλων, ὁ μαρτυρήσας ἐν ἔτει ͵αωκʹ (1820), ξίφει τελειοῦται.	The holy New Monastic Martyr Nektarios, who was from Vryoulla, and who witnessed in 1820, died by the sword.
Μνήμη τῆς Ἁγίας ἱσαποστόλου βασιλίσσσης Ὄλγας.	We also commemorate St. Olga, the Great Princess and Equal to the Apostles.
Ταῖς αὐτῶν ἁγίαις πρεσβείαις, ὁ Θεός, ἐλέησον ἡμᾶς. Ἀμήν.	By their holy intercessions, O God, have mercy on us. Amen.
