Θεὸς Κύριος καὶ ἐπέφανεν ἡμῖν. Εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἐν ὀνόματι Κυρίου.

God is the Lord, and He revealed Himself to us. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. [SAAS]

Στίχ. αʹ. Ἐξομολογεῖσθε τῷ Κυρίῳ καὶ ἐπικαλεῖσθε τὸ ὄνομα τὸ ἅγιον αὐτοῦ.

Verse 1: Give thanks to the Lord and call upon His holy name.

Στίχ. βʹ. Πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ἐκύκλωσάν με, καὶ τῷ ὀνόματι Κυρίου ἠμυνάμην αὐτούς.

Verse 2: All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I defended myself against them.

Στίχ. γʹ. Παρὰ Κυρίου ἐγένετο αὕτη καὶ ἔστι θαυμαστὴ ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς ἡμῶν.

Verse 3: And this came about from the Lord, and it is wonderful in our eyes.

Mode 4. Come quickly.

Οἱ Μάρτυρές σου Κύριε, ἐν τῇ ἀθλήσει αὐτῶν, στεφάνους ἐκομίσαντο τῆς ἀφθαρσίας, ἐκ σοῦ τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν· σχόντες γὰρ τὴν ἰσχύν σου, τοὺς τυράννους καθεῖλον, ἔθραυσαν καὶ δαιμόνων, τὰ ἀνίσχυρα θράση. Αὐτῶν ταῖς ἱκεσίαις, Χριστὲ ὁ Θεός, σῶσον τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμῶν.

Your Martyrs, O Lord, were worthily awarded by You * the crowns of incorruption, in that they contested for You our immortal God. * Since they possessed Your power, they defeated the tyrants, * dashing the demons’ powerless displays of defiance. * O Christ God, at their fervent entreaties, save our souls. [SD]

Τὸ ἀπʼ αἰῶνος ἀπόκρυφον, καὶ Ἀγγέλοις ἄγνωστον μυστήριον, διὰ σού Θεοτόκε τοῖς ἐπὶ γῆς πεφανέρωται, Θεὸς ἐν ἀσυγχύτῳ ἑνώσει σαρκούμενος, καὶ Σταυρὸν ἑκουσίως ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν καταδεξάμενος· διʼ οὗ ἀναστήσας τὸν πρωτόπλαστον, ἔσωσεν ἐκ θανάτου τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμῶν.

O Theotokos, revealed through you to us on earth was the mystery, that was hidden for ages and unknown by the angels. God became incarnate, uniting natures without confusion, and for us He voluntarily accepted crucifixion, through which He resurrected the first-formed man, and He saved our souls from death. [GOASD]

Ἀναγινώσκεται τὸ οἰκεῖον Κάθισμα τοῦ Ψαλτηρίου, ἤτοι Κάθισμα 16. Μεθʼ ὃ ἡ μικρὰ Συναπτή.

The appointed Kathisma of the Psalter may be read, i.e. Kathisma 16. Then the short litany.

Remembering our all-holy, immaculate, most blessed, and glorious Lady, the Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary, with all the saints, let us commend ourselves and one another and our whole life to Christ our God.

Ὁ φαιδρύνας τοὺς Ἁγίους σου ὑπὲρ χρυσόν, καὶ δοξάσας τοὺς Ὁσίους σου ὡς ἀγαθός, ὑπʼ αὐτῶν δυσωπούμενος Χριστὲ ὁ Θεός, τὴν ζωὴν ἡμῶν εἰρήνευσον ὡς φιλάνθρωπος, καὶ τὴν εὐχὴν κατεύθυνον ὡς θυμίαμα, ὁ μόνος ἐν Ἁγίοις ἀναπαυόμενος.

You make Your holy martyrs shinier than gold, and You glorify Your devout ascetics, since You are good. Being importuned by them, O Christ our God, bring peace into our lives, O benevolent Lord, and let our prayer as incense rise to You, who alone dwell in the holy. [GOASD]

O victorious Athletes of the Lord, blessed is the ground that was watered with your blood, and holy are the dwellings that received your spirits. You prevailed over the enemy in the stadium, and you openly proclaimed Christ. We pray you will earnestly entreat Him for us, that He save our souls, since He is good. [SD]

Ἀπόστολοι, Μάρτυρες, καὶ Προφῆται, Ἱεράρχαι, Ὅσιοι καὶ Δίκαιοι, οἱ καλῶς τὸν ἀγῶνα τελέσαντες, καὶ τὴν πίστιν τηρήσαντες, παῤῥησίαν ἔχοντες πρὸς τὸν Σωτῆρα, ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν αὐτὸν ὡς ἀγαθὸν ἱκετεύσατε, σωθῆναι δεόμεθα τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμῶν.

O Apostles, Martyrs, Prophets, Hierarchs, Monastics and the Righteous, you finished the race and kept the faith. You speak freely to the Savior. We pray you entreat Him on our behalf, to save our souls, since He is good. [SD]

All surpassing every thought, all surpassing glorious, O Theotokos, are your mysteries. With your chastity sealed and your virginity preserved, still you are a mother in truth, for to the true God you gave birth. We pray you fervently entreat Him to save our souls. [GOASD]

Σὲ τὸν περιβάλλοντα, τὸν οὐρανὸν ἐν νεφέλαις, ἔχοντες οἱ Ἅγιοι, περιβολὴν ἐν τῷ κόσμῳ, τὰς βασάνους τῶν ἀνόμων ὑπέμειναν, καὶ τὴν πλάνην τῶν εἰδώλων κατήργησαν· αὐτῶν ταῖς ἱκεσίαις, καὶ ἡμᾶς ἐλευθέρωσον, τοῦ ἀοράτου ἐχθροῦ Σωτήρ, καὶ σῶσον ἡμᾶς.

The holy Martyrs had You, who covers heaven with clouds, as a cover in the world, and thus they endured when the villains tortured them, and they negated idolatry. By their intercessions for us, O Savior, free us from the unseen enemy and save us. [GOASD]

Verse: Blessed are they whom You have chosen and received, O Lord. [SAAS]

Ὁ νεκρῶν καὶ τῶν ζώντων ὡς Θεός, ἐξουσίαν ἁπάντων ἐσχηκὼς Ζωοδότα, πρόσχες ταῖς δεήσεσι τῶν δούλων σου, δεῖξόν σου τὰ σπλάγχνα τὰ φιλάνθρωπα, καὶ δίδου τὴν ἄφεσιν ψυχαῖς, ἃς μετέστησας, ἐπʼ ἐλπίδι τῇ εἰς σέ, ὁ διʼ εὐσπλαγχνίαν ὑπεράγαθος.

As the Giver of life and only God, * with authority over all, the dead and the living, * listen to Your servants when we pray to You, * show us Your compassionate and tender love. * We pray You forgive the sins * of souls who have hoped in You * and whom You took to yourself, * who are most benevolent and merciful. Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression. Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me. Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice. Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. For if You desired sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with whole burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken and humbled heart God will not despise. Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built; then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings; then shall they offer young bulls on Your altar. Ἀγωνισάμενοι καλῶς ἀπὸ βρέφους, Μαρκιανὲ σὺν τῷ σοφῷ Μαρτυρίῳ, τὸν ἀποστάτην Ἄρειον καθείλετε, ἄτρωτον τηρήσαντες, τὴν ὀρθόδοξον πίστιν, Παύλῳ ἐφεπόμενοι, τῷ σοφῷ διδασκάλῳ· ὅθεν σὺν τούτῳ εὕρατε ζωήν, ὡς τῆς Τριάδος ὑπέρμαχοι ἄριστοι.

From your youth you were good athletes, wise Marcian and Martyrius, ⁄ vanquishing the Arian heretics; ⁄ you kept the faith perfect by following in the footsteps of your bishop and teacher Paul, ⁄ therefore, you are worthy to be with him in eternal life, ⁄ as respected defenders of the Holy Trinity. O blessed duo, as you are pious ministers of our humane God, come to me quickly and rescue me from evils. Grant me wise eloquence, as I attempt to extol your contest, which you underwent for the Faith with determined will. You obtained the heavenly crowns, O Marcian and Martyrius, and now you forever rejoice with the choirs of martyr Athletes, Apostles, Teachers, and venerable Hierarchs; for you are heralds of God the Logos, and respected defenders of the Holy Trinity. On this day we commemorate St. Tabitha, whom the holy Apostle Peter raised from the dead.

May Christ our true God, through the intercessions of His all-pure and all-immaculate holy Mother, the power of the precious and life-giving Cross, the protection of the honorable, bodiless powers of heaven, the supplications of the honorable, glorious prophet and forerunner John the Baptist, of the holy, glorious, and praiseworthy apostles, of the holy, glorious, and triumphant martyrs, of our righteous and God-bearing fathers, (local patron saint); of the holy and righteous ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, the holy and glorious Martyrs and Notaries Marcian and Martyrius, whose memory we are observing, and of all the saints, have mercy on us and save us, as He is good, benevolent, and merciful God.
