Ἤ, ἀντὶ τῶν Ἀντιφώνων, κατὰ τὸ τυπικόν, ψάλλονται τὰ Τυπικὰ καὶ οἱ Μακαρισμοί.

In Your kingdom. Remember us, O Lord, when You come in Your kingdom. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [RSV]

Μακάριοι οἱ πενθοῦντες, ὅτι αὐτοὶ παρακληθήσονται.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. [RSV]

Μακάριοι οἱ πρᾳεῖς, ὅτι αὐτοὶ κληρονομήσουσι τὴν γῆν.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. [RSV]

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. [RSV]

Ἀρετῆς κάλλει, διαπρέπων θεόπτα καὶ θαύμασι, τῶν Ἰνδῶν τὸ δυσειδές, φωτὶ τῷ θείῳ κατηύγασας, πίστει καὶ ἐφαίδρυνας, τούτων τὴν ζόφωσιν.

You were great in the distinction of virtues, ⁄ for you yourself had beheld Christ. ⁄ You enlightened the formless darkness of the Indians with divine light, ⁄ enlightening them with faith. [OCA]

Burning with radiance through the activity of the Spirit, ⁄ you were launched like a bolt of divine light. ⁄ You were pleasing to God, O Thomas, ⁄ enlightening the world with miracles. [OCA]

Μακάριοι οἱ εἰρηνοποιοί, ὅτι αὐτοὶ Υἱοὶ Θεοῦ κληθήσονται.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. [RSV]

Μεμυημένος, τῆς ἐνθέου σοφίας τὰ δόγματα, ὥσπερ τάχος ἀστραπῆς, διερχομένης Ἀπόστολε, Θωμᾶ κατελάμπρυνας, κόσμου τὰ πέρατα.

You were instructed in the mysteries of the teachings of divine wisdom ⁄ which surpasses the brilliance of lightning. ⁄ Apostle Thomas, you illumined the ends of the earth! [OCA]

All-pure, unwedded one, ⁄ you gave birth to God in the flesh: ⁄ make me steadfast, for I am shaken by the assaults of the passions ⁄ and I have no other helper but you. [OCA]

Θύσω σοι μετὰ φωνῆς.

Μακάριοι ἐστὲ ὅταν ὀνειδίσωσιν ὑμᾶς, καὶ διώξωσι, καὶ εἴπωσι πᾶν πονηρὸν ῥῆμα καθʼ ὑμῶν, ψευδόμενοι ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ.

Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely [for my sake]. [RSV]

Τὴν πάντων, ἀπιστίαν Θωμᾶ τὴν ψυχόλεθρον, ἡ ἀπιστία σου μάκαρ, θεραπεύει· σὺ γὰρ ἀναμφιλέκτως, καὶ τῶν ἥλων, καὶ τῆς λόγχης τοὺς τύπους ἠρεύνησας.

Blessed Thomas, your unbelief ⁄ heals the soul-destroying unbelief of all, ⁄ for without doubt, you probed the wounds ⁄ made by the nails and the spear. [OCA]

Χαίρετε καὶ ἀγαλλιᾶσθε, ὅτι ὁ μισθὸς ὑμῶν πολὺς ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς.

Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven. [RSV]

Ἀφῆκας, ὡς δυνατὸς Χριστὲ τὸν Ἀπόστολον, ἠκονημένον ὡς βέλος, ἐν ἐχθρῶν καρδίαις σου ζωοδότα, καὶ τῶν σκύλων, τὴν προνομήν σοι τούτων προσήγαγεν.

You launched Your apostle, powerful Christ, ⁄ like a swift arrow into the hearts of Your enemies. ⁄ He has brought them to you as the spoils of war! [OCA]

Θυσίας, εἰδωλικὰς οἰκτίρμον κατήργησας, σφαγιασθεὶς ἐπὶ ξύλου, καὶ σφαγαῖς ἁγίαις τῶν θεηγόρων, Ἀποστόλων, τῶν τὰ σὰ μιμουμένων παθήματα.

Compassionate One, You abolished the sacrifices of idols, ⁄ by being killed Yourself on a tree ⁄ and by the holy sacrifices of the God-inspired apostles ⁄ who imitated Your sufferings. [OCA]

Ὧ θαῦμα, τῶν ἁπάντων θαυμάτων καινότατον! ὅτι Παρθένος ἐν μήτρᾳ, τὸν τὰ σύμπαντα περιέποντα, ἀπειράνδρως συλλαβοῦσα, οὐκ ἐστενοχώρησεν.

New wonder, more than all wonders! ⁄ As a Virgin, without knowing a man, ⁄ you conceived in your womb Him Who contains all things, ⁄ yet you did not confine Him. [OCA]

O holy Apostle Thomas, make intercession to our merciful God, that He grant our souls forgiveness of offenses. [SD]

As God’s Chief Commanders and ministers of His divine glory, guides of humanity and leaders of the Angels, pray for what will benefit us and for great mercy, as Chief Commanders of the Bodiless Hosts. [SD]

We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute. To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are ill-clad and buffeted and homeless, and we labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; when slandered, we try to conciliate; we have become, and are now, as the refuse of the world, the off-scouring of all things. I do not write this to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” Now Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, and place my finger in the mark of the nails, and place my hand in his side, I will not believe.” Eight days later, his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. The doors were shut, but Jesus came and stood among them, and said, “Peace be with you.” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side; do not be faithless, but believing.” Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.” Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name. Hymn to the Theotokos.

Ἄξιόν ἐστιν ὡς ἀληθῶς μακαρίζειν σε τὴν Θεοτόκον, τὴν ἀειμακάριστον καὶ παναμώμητον καὶ μητέρα τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν. Τὴν τιμιωτέραν τῶν Χερουβεὶμ καὶ ἐνδοξοτέραν ἀσυγκρίτως τῶν Σεραφείμ, τὴν ἀδιαφθόρως Θεὸν Λόγον τεκοῦσαν, τὴν ὄντως Θεοτόκον, σὲ μεγαλύνομεν.

It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.

Εἴδομεν τὸ φῶς τὸ ἀληθινόν, ἐλάβομεν Πνεῦμα ἐπουράνιον, εὕρομεν πίστιν ἀληθῆ, ἀδιαίρετον Τριάδα προσκυνοῦντες· αὕτη γὰρ ἡμᾶς ἔσωσεν.

We have seen the true light; we have received the heavenly Spirit; we have found the true faith, worshiping the undivided Trinity, for the Trinity has saved us.

Χριστὸς ὁ ἀληθινὸς Θεὸς ἡμῶν, ταῖς πρεσβείαις τῆς παναχράντου καὶ παναμώμου ἁγίας αὐτοῦ Μητρός, δυνάμει τοῦ τιμίου καὶ ζωοποιοῦ Σταυροῦ, προστασίαις τῶν τιμίων ἐπουρανίων δυνάμεων ἀσωμάτων, ἱκεσίαις τοῦ τιμίου, ἐνδόξου, προφήτου, προδρόμου καὶ βαπτιστοῦ Ἰωάννου, τῶν ἁγίων ἐνδόξων καὶ πανευφήμων ἀποστόλων, τῶν ἁγίων ἐνδόξων καὶ καλλινίκων μαρτύρων· τῶν ὁσίων καὶ θεοφόρων πατέρων ἡμῶν· (τοῦ ἁγίου τοῦ ναοῦ)· τῶν ἁγίων καὶ δικαίων θεοπατόρων Ἰωακεὶμ καὶ Ἄννης, καὶ τοῦ Ἁγίου ἐνδόξου Ἀποστόλου Θωμᾶ, οὗ καὶ τὴν μνήμην ἐπιτελοῦμεν· καὶ πάντων τῶν ἁγίων, ἐλεήσαι καὶ σώσαι ἡμᾶς, ὡς ἀγαθὸς καὶ φιλάνθρωπος καὶ ἐλεήμων Θεός.

May Christ our true God, through the intercessions of His all-pure and all-immaculate holy Mother, the power of the precious and life-giving Cross, the protection of the honorable, bodiless powers of heaven, the supplications of the honorable, glorious prophet and forerunner John the Baptist, of the holy, glorious, and praiseworthy apostles, of the holy, glorious, and triumphant martyrs, of our righteous and God-bearing fathers, (local patron saint); of the holy and righteous ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, the holy and glorious Apostle Thomas, whose memory we observe, and of all the saints, have mercy on us and save us, as He is good, benevolent, and merciful God.
