Open the gate of compassion for us, O blessed Theotokos. For hoping in you, let us not fail in our aim. Through you may we be delivered from adversities. For you are the salvation of Christians. [GOASD]

O Lord, the memory of Your Apostles is like the Garden of Eden, for all the world greatly rejoices in it. Grant us peace and great mercy, by their supplications. [SD]

Your twelve Apostles, O Lord, were seen on earth like a sun with twelve torches. Through them you withered the harm of error; through them you brighten the souls of Your servants. Through them will You also save us, O compassionate Savior. [SD]

The fishermen overturned the flawed philosophies, and from the depths of vanity they drew everyone up, with the net of the true Faith in God; and to God they brought those who rightly believe in Him, and who ever magnify Him. [SD]

Τὰ ἄνω ζητῶν.

Yearning for the life on high, you diligently renounced the delights below, and you disguised yourself as a man among men, O famous Saint. For the love of Christ your true bridegroom, you denied yourself a temporal spouse. [SD]

Oikos.

Let us rise and listen attentively to an unusual story, with gladness and cheer, happy in soul. For this account is quite extraordinary and shocking. A woman lived in the company of men and defeated the devil; she trampled the fire of pleasure and was not burned at all. You see, Euphrosyne, who was spotless, longed for Christ, and she denied herself a temporal spouse. [SD]

On September 25, we commemorate our devout mother Euphrosyne, daughter of Paphnutius the Egyptian.

On this day we commemorate the holy martyr Paphnutius.

On this day we remember the massive earthquake [in Constantinople], during which a child was wondrously caught up into the air [and heard the Thrice-holy Hymn].

On this day we commemorate the holy martyrs Paul, Tatta and their children Sabinian, Maximus, Rufus and Eugene.

Verse: We were filled with Your mercy in the morning, and in all our days we greatly rejoiced and were glad; gladden us in return for the days You humbled us, for the years we saw evil things. And behold Your servants and Your works, and guide their sons. [SAAS]

At times, the Apostles, O Lord, with nets seized the depth of the sea, while at others, with dogmas they seized the height of the Kingdom. By their trade they searched the incomprehensible deep. And by faith they reached Your uncircumscribable bosom. And they proclaimed Your timeless Son to the world. By their intercessions and those of all the Saints, have mercy on us. [SD]
