Τὸ ἀπʼ αἰῶνος ἀπόκρυφον, καὶ Ἀγγέλοις ἄγνωστον μυστήριον, διὰ σού Θεοτόκε τοῖς ἐπὶ γῆς πεφανέρωται, Θεὸς ἐν ἀσυγχύτῳ ἑνώσει σαρκούμενος, καὶ Σταυρὸν ἑκουσίως ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν καταδεξάμενος· διʼ οὗ ἀναστήσας τὸν πρωτόπλαστον, ἔσωσεν ἐκ θανάτου τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμῶν.	O Theotokos, revealed through you to us on earth was the mystery, that was hidden for ages and unknown by the angels. God became incarnate, uniting natures without confusion, and for us He voluntarily accepted crucifixion, through which He resurrected the first-formed man, and He saved our souls from death. [GOASD]

Φωστῆρας εἰς τὰ πέρατα, τοὺς Μαθητάς σου Χριστέ, ἀνέδειξας ἐκλάμποντας, ἐν τῷ κηρύγματι, ψυχὰς καταυγάζοντας, πλάνην τὴν τῶν εἰδώλων, διʼ αὐτῶν ἀμαυρώσας, δόγμασιν εὐσεβείας, καταλάμψας τὸν κόσμον. You made Your Disciples shine like luminaries, O Christ, * throughout the entire earth, for they illumined many souls * by preaching Your word to them. * Idolatry’s deception was through them eliminated, * and the world has been enlightened with Your true Christian doctrines. * We pray You save our souls, by their entreaties on our behalf. O Lord, as You opened the well of Your divinity to the faithful woman of Samaria, and You poured out on her the knowledge of God, and You gave her a God-filled drink, so now send down to all of us the forgiveness of sins, since You are exceedingly good. Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built; then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings; then shall they offer young bulls on Your altar. Πίστει ἐλθοῦσα ἐν τῷ φρέατι, ἡ Σαμαρεῖτις ἐθεάσατο, τὸ τῆς σοφίας ὕδωρ σε, ᾧ ποτισθεῖσα δαψιλῶς βασιλείαν τὴν ἄνωθεν ἐκληρώσατο, αἰωνίως ἡ ἀοίδιμος.	In faith came the woman of Samaria to the well and she beheld You who are the water of wisdom. When she had fully drunk thereof, this famous lady inherited the kingdom on high for eternity. [SD]

Τῇ ΚΒʹ τοῦ αὐτοῦ μηνὸς μνήμη τοῦ Ἁγίου Μάρτυρος Βασιλίσκου.	On May 22 we commemorate the holy Martyr Basiliskos, nephew of Saint Theodore the Tyro.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ μνήμη τῆς Ἁγίας καὶ Οἰκομενικῆς Δευτέρας Συνόδου, τῆς συγκροτηθείσης ἐν ἔτει τπαʹ (381), τῆς καθελούσης τὸν Μακεδόνιον, λέγοντα μὴ εἶναι Θεὸν τὸ Πνεῦμα τὸ Ἅγιον.	On this day we also commemorate the holy Second Ecumenical Synod, which convened in the year 381, and which deposed Macedonius who said that the Holy Spirit was not God.
Ὁ Ἅγιος Μάρτυς Μάρκελλος, μόλυβδον κοχλάζοντα ποτισθείς, τελειοῦται.	The holy Martyr Marcellus died when he was made to swallow molten lead.
Ὁ Ἅγιος Μάρτυς Κόδρος, ὑπὸ ἵππων συρόμενος, τελειοῦται.	The holy Martyr Codrus died when he was dragged by horses.
Ὁ Ἅγιος Ἰωάννης ὁ Βλαδίμηρος, ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ θαυματουργός, ξίφει τελειοῦται.	Saint John Vladimir, the king and wonder-worker, died by the sword.
Ὁ Ἅγιος νέος Ἱερομάρτυρυς Ζαχαρίας, ὁ Προυσαεύς, ἀγχόνῃ τελειοῦται.	The new holy Hieromartyr Zacharias of Prusa died by hanging.

The Father’s Logos and Son, who is also unoriginate and eternal, and the well of cures and healing, came and sat down beside the well. Then came the woman of Samaria to draw water. The Savior looked at her and said, “Give me a drink of water, then go call your husband.” And she, thinking she was conversing with a man and not with God, tried to hide behind her words, saying, “I have no husband.” And the Teacher said to her, “You have spoken the truth in saying, ‘I have no husband’; for you have had five, and he whom you now have is not your husband.” Then she was amazed by what He said; and she ran to the city and said to the people, “Come and see the Christ, who grants the world the great mercy!” [SD]

Συγγνώμην καὶ ἄφεσιν τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν καὶ τῶν πλημμελημάτων ἡμῶν παρὰ τοῦ Κυρίου αἰτησώμεθα.	For pardon and remission of our sins and transgressions, let us ask the Lord.
Τὰ καλὰ καὶ συμφέροντα ταῖς ψυχαῖς ἡμῶν καὶ εἰρήνην τῷ κόσμῳ παρὰ τοῦ Κυρίου αἰτησώμεθα.	For that which is good and beneficial for our souls, and for peace for the world, let us ask the Lord.
Τὸν ὑπόλοιπον χρόνον τῆς ζωῆς ἡμῶν ἐν εἰρήνῃ καὶ μετανοίᾳ ἐκτελέσαι παρὰ τοῦ Κυρίου αἰτησώμεθα.	That we may complete the remaining time of our life in peace and repentance, let us ask the Lord.
Χριστιανὰ τὰ τέλη τῆς ζωῆς ἡμῶν, ἀνώδυνα, ἀνεπαίσχυντα, εἰρηνικὰ καὶ καλὴν ἀπολογίαν τὴν ἐπὶ τοῦ φοβεροῦ βήματος τοῦ Χριστοῦ αἰτησώμεθα.	And let us ask for a Christian end to our life, peaceful, without shame and suffering, and for a good defense before the awesome judgment seat of Christ.
Τῆς παναγίας, ἀχράντου, ὑπερευλογημένης, ἐνδόξου, δεσποίνης ἡμῶν Θεοτόκου καὶ ἀειπαρθένου Μαρίας μετὰ πάντων τῶν ἁγίων μνημονεύσαντες, ἑαυτοὺς καὶ ἀλλήλους καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν ζωὴν ἡμῶν Χριστῷ τῷ Θεῷ παραθώμεθα.	Remembering our all-holy, immaculate, most blessed, and glorious Lady, the Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary, with all the saints, let us commend ourselves and one another and our whole life to Christ our God.

Let heaven and earth beam with great joy today, for Christ has appeared, incarnate as man, to release from the curse all of Adam’s human race. He is greatly marveled at, when he comes to Samaria. He is seen with a woman, and and He asks her for water, He who surrounds himself with clouds and water. So come, all believers, let us worship Him, who voluntarily became poor for our sake, in His compassionate plan. [SD]
