Ἤ, ἀντὶ τῶν Ἀντιφώνων, κατὰ τὸ τυπικόν, ψάλλονται τὰ Τυπικὰ καὶ οἱ Μακαρισμοί.

An optional alternative to the Antiphons are the Typika (Psalms 102 and 145), and the Beatitudes with the appointed troparia, which are provided here.

Ἐν τῇ Βασιλείᾳ σου μνήσθητι ἡμῶν Κύριε, ὅταν ἔλθῃς ἐν τῇ Βασιλείᾳ σου. Μακάριοι οἱ πτωχοὶ τῷ πνεύματι, ὅτι αὐτῶν ἐστιν ἡ Βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν.

In Your kingdom. Remember us, O Lord, when You come in Your kingdom. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [RSV]

Μακάριοι οἱ πενθοῦντες, ὅτι αὐτοὶ παρακληθήσονται.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. [RSV]

Μακάριοι οἱ πρᾳεῖς, ὅτι αὐτοὶ κληρονομήσουσι τὴν γῆν.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. [RSV]

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. [RSV]

Ἐθελουσίως ἐπὶ ξύλου ὑψώθης Λόγε, καὶ ὁρῶσαι ἐῤῥήγνυντο αἱ πέτραι, καὶ ἡ κτίσις ἐκλονεῖτο ἅπασα, καὶ νεκροὶ ἐκ τῶν τάφων, ὡς ὕπνου ἐξηγείροντο.

You voluntarily were lifted on the cross, O Logos. * When they saw it, the rocks were split asunder, * and the earth and all creation shook in fear, * and the bodies of many who had fallen asleep were raised. [GOASD]

Μακάριοι οἱ καθαροὶ τῇ καρδίᾳ, ὅτι αὐτοὶ τὸν Θεὸν ὄψονται.

When You descended with Your soul to Hades, O Logos, * all the souls of righteous saw You, O Savior. * They were freed from the bonds that for ages had * held them, and they praised Your incomprehensible dominion. [GOASD]

Μακάριοι οἱ εἰρηνοποιοί, ὅτι αὐτοὶ Υἱοὶ Θεοῦ κληθήσονται.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. [RSV]

O life and well of immortality, You, O Savior, * came and sat by the well, in Your compassion. * When the woman of Samaria asked for it, * You gave her the water of Your wisdom, and she sang Your praise [GOASD]

Μακάριοι οἱ δεδιωγμένοι ἕνεκεν δικαιοσύνης, ὅτι αὐτῶν ἐστιν ἡ Βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. [RSV]

Ἀνερμηνεύτως συλλαβοῦσα ἐν τῇ γαστρί σου, τὸν τῶν ὅλων Θεὸν Παρθενομῆτορ, ὑπὲρ ἔννοιαν καὶ λόγον τέτοκας· μείνασα παρθένος, ὡς πρὸ τοῦ τόκου Θεόνυμφε.

As you conceived the God of all in your womb, O Virgin, * inexplicably, O all-holy Mother, * you gave birth to Him incomprehensibly, * remaining virgin as before giving birth, O Bride of God. [GOASD]

Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely [for my sake]. [RSV]

Σταυρῷ σε οἱ παράνομοι, Ἰησοῦ ἥλωσαν, καὶ λόγχῃ ἐξεκέντησαν Χριστέ, καὶ Ἰωσὴφ ὁ εὐσχήμων σε κηδεύει, ἐν τῷ καινῷ μνημείῳ· ἐξ οὗ μετὰ δόξης ἐξαναστάς, συνανέστησας Σωτήρ, πᾶσαν κτίσιν ὑμνοῦσαν τὸ κράτος σου.

Transgressors of the Law had You, Jesus Christ, crucified; * a Roman soldier pierced You in the side, * and You were buried in a new, unused tomb by the respected Joseph. * O Savior, when with glory You arose, * with yourself You also raised all creation, which lauded Your might, O Lord. [GOASD]

As You are the most copious stream of life, Lord our God, * and ocean of mercy and tender love, * and being wearied with Your journey, You sat down beside the well of Jacob. * To the Samaritan woman You said, * “Give me water to drink, that You may receive the waters of forgiveness.” [GOASD]

O Lady, we all sing your praise. Only you bore a child * and preserved your virginity intact. * You were prefigured by items in Scripture: * throne of the Lord, the mountain, the gate, the lamp, the bright chamber of God, * glorious Tabernacle, jar and table and Ark of the covenant. [GOASD]

When the women disciples of the Lord heard the Angel joyously proclaim the resurrection, they cast aside the ancestral verdict, and boasting in glory they said to the Apostles, “Death has been despoiled! Christ God has risen, granting the great mercy to the world!” [GOASD]

In those days, Paul went on with Barnabas to Derbe. When they had preached the gospel to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconion and to Antioch, strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God. And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they believed. Then they passed through Pisidia, and came to Pamphylia. And when they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia; and from there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work which they had fulfilled. And when they arrived, they gathered the church together and declared all that God had done with them, and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles. And they remained no little time with the disciples. But some men came down from Judea and were teaching the brethren, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.” And when Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and debate with them, Paul and Barnabas and some of the others were appointed to go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and the elders about this question. So, being sent on their way by the church, they passed through both Phoenicia and Samaria, reporting the conversion of the Gentiles, and they gave great joy to all the brethren. And when they came to Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church and the apostles and the elders, and they declared all that God had done with them. [RSV]

The Lord said to the Jews who came to him, “For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may become blind.” Some of the Pharisees near him heard this, and they said to him, “Are we also blind?” Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no guilt; but now that you say, ‘We see,’ your guilt remains. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber; but he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the gatekeeper opens; the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” This figure Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them. So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers; but the sheep did not heed them. Ἄξιόν ἐστιν ὡς ἀληθῶς μακαρίζειν σε τὴν Θεοτόκον, τὴν ἀειμακάριστον καὶ παναμώμητον καὶ μητέρα τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν. Τὴν τιμιωτέραν τῶν Χερουβεὶμ καὶ ἐνδοξοτέραν ἀσυγκρίτως τῶν Σεραφείμ, τὴν ἀδιαφθόρως Θεὸν Λόγον τεκοῦσαν, τὴν ὄντως Θεοτόκον, σὲ μεγαλύνομεν.

It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.

May He who rose from the dead, Christ our true God, through the intercessions of His all-pure and all-immaculate holy Mother, the power of the precious and life-giving Cross, the protection of the honorable, bodiless powers of heaven, the supplications of the honorable, glorious prophet and forerunner John the Baptist, of the holy, glorious, and praiseworthy apostles, of the holy, glorious, and triumphant martyrs, of our righteous and God-bearing fathers, (local patron saint); of the holy and righteous ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, and of all the saints, have mercy on us and save us, as He is good, benevolent, and merciful God.
