Resurrection Day! O peoples, let us brilliantly shine! * Pascha, the Lord’s Pascha! * For Christ our God has out of death * passed us over into life, * and likewise from earth * to heaven, as we now sing * unto Him a triumphal hymn. (2) [SD]

Most-holy Theotokos, save us.

Would that you gush for me now, O Theotokos of the Spring, and give me grace of eloquence, so that I may extol your spring, which bubbles up with life and grace for the faithful. For you, like a spring, gushed forth the personified Logos. [SD]

Most-holy Theotokos, save us.

O modest Maiden, your church has become a supernatural clinic for all. It raises from obvious death those who go there for help, and to all it pours out abundant sweetness. [SD]

You uniquely rain down to us gifts of grace, without ever running out. From on high you ineffably spoke to Leo, and through the use of clay you caused the blind man to recover his eyesight. [SD]

Rejoice, O modest Mary, rejoice! You are honored by all mortals. For the Maker of all came down on you like a drop, and He made you an immortal Spring, O Bride of God. [SD]

Saint of God, intercede for us.

That I may praise the God-seer, Mark, I invoke the grace of the Spirit. May He inspire me with brilliance and remove my ignorance, granting me a divine wealth of wisdom! [OCA]

Saint of God, intercede for us.

You have enlightened Your divinely eloquent one with the light of grace, Savior and Word of God. As the Source of all good, You sent out into the world him who has preached the Gospel of Your coming to us! [OCA]

A disciple of the most wise Peter, glorious Mark, you were enriched by his adopting you. You were shown to be an initiate of the mysteries of God and a joint heir of His glory! [OCA]

Most-holy Theotokos, save us.

O Maiden, I know you to be a luminous, holy temple of the Master of all. You are also a spring of incorruption, that pours out Christ like water, from which we drink. [SD]

Most-holy Theotokos, save us.

Our Lady of the Spring, such was the grace you gave to the Emperor. For by the water you dissolved the awful substance of the stone that blocked the passage of urine and had caused him great pain. [SD]

Most-holy Theotokos, save us.

O Virgin Theotokos, abundant grace flows from you, and it overflows. Because of you the lame leap and dance, those with skin conditions are cleansed, and demons drown. [SD]

Most-holy Theotokos, save us.

You grant cures to all the faithful, rulers and citizens, the indigent, and those in power, the poor and the rich. You pour out the water, O Spring, as a single medicine to all alike. [SD]

Saint of God, intercede for us.

The glorious Mark, Your favored one, was illumined by the rays of Your light. He preached You, O Christ, the Personal Wisdom Who appeared to all the world, granting life and enlightening all people. You are the Master and Lover of mankind! [OCA]

Saint of God, intercede for us.

Your eye-witness Mark, Lover of mankind, received an ever-flowing stream of wisdom, rushing like a river. He has watered the ends of the earth with the light of divine knowledge, revealing the truth of Your prophecy. [OCA]

You openly followed Peter, wise one. As his disciple you copied the Gospel. You received the light of theology from him, Apostle, clearly proclaiming the coming of God in the flesh! [OCA]

In days of old You were carried to Egypt in the Virgin’s arms and You made the temples of the demons quake. You sent Mark there that all might know the mystery of Your becoming Man. [OCA]

Receiving the grace of the Holy Spirit from on high, O Apostle, you cut through the philosophers’ web of words, and you drew the nations all in your net, and brought them to the Master, O famous Evangelist Mark, as you preached the divine Gospel. [SD]

You became the disciple of Peter, the Paramount Apostle, and along with him you preached Christ the Son of God, and you established on the rock of the truth those who were shaken by error. Establish me also on that rock, and guide the steps of my soul, so that delivered from the snares of the enemy and with nothing to impede me, I may glorify you. Now let Habakkuk as a God-inspired prophet stand with us, * keeping his divine watch, and show us * the angelic messenger, who, shining, utters glowingly, * “Today, for the world is salvation,* because arisen is Christ, being omnipotent.” [SD]

Glory to Your holy Resurrection, O Lord.

Christ, our veritable Pascha, is the fulfillment of the Law; therefore He appeared as a male having opened the virgin womb; He has been called a Lamb as being edible; unblemished, as without stain; and He is said to be perfect, being very God. [SD]

Glory to Your holy Resurrection, O Lord.

The Savior Christ, the crown of goodness who is ever blest by us, willingly was sacrificed for all as a year old paschal lamb, our Passover that cleanses us. And from the sepulcher now the handsome Sun of Righteousness for us has shone again. [SD]

Before the Ark, which was a shadow of old, the forebear of God David leapt and danced. As we see the types fulfilled, correspondingly let us also, as God’s holy people, rejoice in godly manner, because arisen is Christ, being omnipotent. [SD]

Ἐπὶ τῆς θείας φυλακῆς.

Most-holy Theotokos, save us.

O Virgin, the works of your Spring are truly greater in number than the grains of sand and the raindrops. For they unceasingly flow to all the earth, and richly and quickly heal anyone who is sick. [SD]

Most-holy Theotokos, save us.

O Virgin Lady, the water of your Spring was poured on a woman’s cancerous breast, and immediately the fatal disease was cured by the application of the water. And the crab, namely cancer, learned to walk upright. [SD]

Most-holy Theotokos, save us.

O Theotokos, what occurred was clearly incomprehensible and transcending nature. For your water became a cure against fatal illnesses, something nature has never seen before. [SD]

Most-holy Theotokos, save us.

O Theotokos, our Lady of the Spring, the enemy is killing me by means of the assaults of pleasures. Do not overlook me, but come and help me quickly. Deliver me from his traps, so that I may ever extol you who are highly praised. [SD]

Saint of God, intercede for us.

Your sound has gone out into all the earth, most wise one, and the power of your words openly reaches the ends of the earth. Like David, you proclaim our salvation and renewal with splendor. [OCA]

Your most wise apostle has appeared to the world like lightning, O Savior. Enlightened with brightness of radiance, he announces the joy of truth for our salvation and renewal. [OCA]

As it was prophesied, your feet were made beautiful, for you have ineffably announced to us and the ends of the earth the Peace that openly revealed Himself in the flesh for our salvation and renewal. [OCA]

The Word sat upon the cloud of the Virgin, and in His mercy, made the counsels of Egypt senseless. He has destroyed thoughts opposed to God through the teachings of the divine Mark for our salvation and renewal. [OCA]

Glory to Your holy Resurrection, O Lord.

Beholding Your measureless compassion, the souls below that were held by the shackles and bonds of Hades pressing forward hastened to the light with feet exultant, O Christ, applauding the Pascha that never ends. [SD]

With candles and lamps let us go out to be with Christ who emerged from the sepulcher like the Bridegroom; and with festive ranks of Angels let us also celebrate God’s holy Pascha that saves us all. [SD]

Most-holy Theotokos, save us.

O Virgin Maiden, when the great deeds of your Spring are related, it astounds human reason. For they truly transcend nature, and they sanctify all the faithful. [SD]

Most-holy Theotokos, save us.

Your grace was portrayed by the fleece, the Manna, Siloam, and the rock that sprung water, also by Solomon’s porch, the Jordan River, and the well of the Samaritan Woman. [SD]

Most-holy Theotokos, save us.

O Virgin Maiden, drops of water from your Spring revived a dead man. The deed transcended reason and thought. Everything about you overwhelms human reason. [SD]

Most-holy Theotokos, save us.

O Maiden, please cure my ailments. You stopped hemorrhaging, you ended shivering and fever, you cured tuberculosis, urinary blockage, and dysentery. [SD]

Saint of God, intercede for us.

Most blessed and God-pleasing Mark, You let fall the sweetness of devotion, the shower of your divine words. You cast light over all in bright radiance, clearly revealing the grace of the spiritual Sun. [OCA]

Saint of God, intercede for us.

From the house of the Lord, Apostle, you poured out a wellspring to water barren hearts with the abundance of spiritual streams. You teach them to bring forth fruit in place of barrenness. [OCA]

Apostle and God-seer, Mark, you were the Son of the great Peter. Enlightened by his teaching, you brought light to the souls who came to you with fervor. [OCA]

You went down to the nether regions of earth, * and You broke apart the bars that forever * were closed on those who were held there, O Christ. * From the sepulcher, * as did Jonah from the whale, * You arose on the third day. (2) [SD]

Glory to Your holy Resurrection, O Lord.

Preserving unbroken the seals of the tomb, You, O Christ, resurrected, as at birth You did not disrupt Your Mother’s virginal barriers. But the pearly gates of Paradise for us You have opened. [SD]

My Savior, the live and unslain sacrificial victim, as a man You did offer Yourself to the Father of Your own will; when as God You rose from the tomb, with Yourself, You raised the whole race of Adam. [SD]

Canon for the Theotokos.

Κατῆλθες ἐν τοῖς κατωτάτοις.

Most-holy Theotokos, save us.

The words of yours truly extol you, O Pure Maiden, as being truly a spring. You ineffably gave birth to the Lord, the ocean of wisdom, who suspended the floods in the sky, and the earth upon the water. [SD]

Most-holy Theotokos, save us.

O all-holy Lady of the Spring, you supported the ladder which was about to crash down under the painters who were on it, and you saved them, as well as the people whose house fell in an earthquake. [SD]

Most-holy Theotokos, save us.

With water from your Spring, you manifestly release from infertility the wombs that had been barren. Indeed, as the one who gave birth to the Master of all and remained a virgin, you also grant childbirth to others. [SD]

Most-holy Theotokos, save us.

Neither word, nor thought, nor tongue is capable of extolling your childbirth, O Pure Maiden. Indeed the philosophers’ finesse and orators flair are stifled before you. [SD]

Ἐκύκλωσεν ἡμᾶς.

Saint of God, intercede for us.

Lord, You brought low the scorn of the wicked and put down their prideful arrogance. You revealed Your apostle to be a conqueror by Your might, for You are the strength and restoration of the weak. [OCA]

Saint of God, intercede for us.

By your words, wise Mark, you preached the Fashioner of creation, the Crown of hope with which we are now crowned, which was fashioned from the nature of the flesh for our glory. [OCA]

Glory.

The pre-eminent Peter clearly taught you, glorious one, to record spiritually the precious Gospel. He showed you to be a servant of divine grace, for you shed the light of divine knowledge on us. [OCA]

Through the Virgin Mother of God You enlightened Egypt which had been in darkness. You entered it as an infant, O Lord, and reproved its vanity, Lover of mankind, through the teachings of the divinely-spoken Mark. [OCA]
