Κριτοῦ καθεζομένου, καὶ Ἀγγέλων ἑστώτων, σάλπιγγος ἠχούσης, καὶ φλογὸς καιομένης, τί ποιήσεις ψυχή μου, ἀπαγομένη εἰς κρίσιν; τότε γὰρ τὰ δεινά σου παρίστανται, τὰ κρυπτά σου ἐλέγχονται ἐγκλήματα· διὸ πρὸ τέλους βόησον· Ὁ Θεὸς ἱλάσθητί μοι, καὶ σῶσόν με.	When the Judge has been seated and the Angels are there, when the trumpet has sounded, and the fire is aflame, what will you do, O my soul, as you are brought in to be judged? For you will hear the charges against you, and evidence with be shown of the awful things you did, even in secret. So before the end, cry out and pray, “God, be merciful to me, and save me!” [GOASD]

Ψυχή, τὰ ὧδε πρόσκαιρα, τὰ δὲ ἐκεῖ αἰώνια· ὁρῶ τὸ δικαστήριον, καὶ ἐπὶ θρόνου τὸν Κριτήν, καὶ τρέμω τὴν ἀπόφασιν· λοιπὸν σπουδῇ ἐπίστρεψον· ἡ κρίσις ἀσυγχώρητος.	What is here is fleeting, what is there is eternal. I see the court of justice and the Judge on His throne, and I am dreading the verdict. O my soul, repent with all seriousness, for no one can pardon the final judgment. [GOASD]

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression. Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me. Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice. Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Καὶ ποιοῦμεν Μετανοίας τρεῖς μεγάλας, λέγοντες μυστικῶς ἐν ἑκάστῃ Μετανοίᾳ ἀνὰ Στίχον τῆς ἑπομένης Εὐχῆς τοῦ Ὁσίου Ἐφραίμ.	We now make three prostrations: i.e. we recite the Prayer of St. Ephrem (quietly or mentally), and with each verse we make a bow or prostration.
Ἄν καὶ συνηθίζεται ἡ εὐχὴ αὕτη νὰ λέγεται ἐκφώνως, ὅμως ἡ ὀρθὴ πράξις εἶναι νὰ λέγεται μυστικῶς καὶ νοερῶς ὑπὸ πάντων, κλήρου τε καὶ λαοῦ, ποιούντων τῶν μετανοιῶν κτλ.	While it has become customary for this prayer to be recited by someone aloud, nevertheless the indicated practice is that it be recited inaudibly and mentally by everyone, clergy and congregants alike, with the accompanying bows etc.

Κύριε καὶ Δέσποτα τῆς ζωῆς μου, πνεῦμα ἀργίας, περιεργίας, φιλαρχίας καὶ ἀργολογίας μή μοι δῷς.	O Lord and Master of my life, do not permit the spirit of laziness and meddling, the lust for power and idle talk to come into me.
Πνεῦμα δὲ σωφροσύνης, ταπεινοφροσύνης, ὑπομονῆς καὶ ἀγάπης χάρισαί μοι τῷ σῷ δούλῳ.	Instead, grant me, Your servant, the spirit of prudence, humility, patience and love.
