O Trinity, consubstantial and undivided, O Unity, with three hypostases and co-eternal, to You as God we shout the hymn of the Angels: Holy, holy, holy are You, our God. The Judge will arrive suddenly, and the actions of each of us will be laid bare. So, with fear, let us cry out in middle of the night: Holy, holy, holy are You, our God. Θεῖοι κήρυκες τῆς ἀληθείας, καὶ διδάσκαλοι τῆς Ἐκκλησίας, ἀνεδείχθητε αὐτόπται Ἀπόστολοι· καὶ γὰρ εἰδώλων τὴν πλάνην πατήσαντες, καὶ τὴν Τριάδα τρανῶς ἐκηρύξατε, ἣν πρεσβεύσατε μακάριοι, δωρήσασθαι ἡμῖν τὸ μέγα ἔλεος.	You were shown to be the divine preachers * of the truth of God, and to be teachers * of the Church, O Apostles and eyewitnesses. * For you trampled the ruse of idolatry, * and you publicly proclaimed the Holy Trinity. * Intercede on our behalf with our Triune God, * entreating that great mercy be given to us. Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression. Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. Ὅτε διεμέριζεν ὁ Ὕψιστος ἔθνη, ὡς διέσπειρεν υἱοὺς ᾿Αδάμ, ἔστησεν ὅρια ἐθνῶν κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ἀγγέλων Θεοῦ,	When the Most High divided the nations, when He scattered the sons of Adam, He set the boundaries of the nations by the number of God’s angels.
Ἐντείνων ἐντενεῖς τὸ τόξον σου ἐπὶ σκῆπτρα, λέγει Κύριος, ποταμῶν ῥαγήσεται γῆ.	You will stretch your bow against scepters, says the Lord. The land of rivers shall be torn asunder.
Ὄψονταί σε καὶ ὠδινήσουσι λαοί, σκορπίζων ὕδατα πορείας, ἔδωκεν ἡ ἄβυσσος φωνὴν αὐτῆς, ὕψος φαντασίας αὐτῆς.	Many peoples will see you and be in travail, dispersing waters from its course. The abyss uttered its voice; raising its form on high.

Θωρακισάμενοι, τὴν πανοπλίαν Χριστοῦ, καὶ ἐνδυσάμενοι, ὅπλα τῆς πίστεως, τὰς παρατάξεις τοῦ ἐχθροῦ, ἀνδρικῶς κατεβάλετε· προθύμως τῇ ἐλπίδι γάρ, τῆς ζωῆς ὑπεμείνατε, πάσας τῶν τυράννων, πρὶν ἀπειλάς τε καὶ μάστιγας· διὸ καὶ τοὺς στεφάνους ἐδέξασθε, Μάρτυρες Χριστοῦ οἱ καρτερόψυχοι.	When you put on the whole armor of Christ our God, * and armed yourselves with His breastplate righteousness * and faith and love, you vanquished hosts of enemies courageously. * Hoping in the life to come, you endured with alacrity * every threat and punishment * of the tyrants who tortured you. * O Martyrs of Christ, you were valiant, * and you received the medals of victory. Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ, μνήμη τοῦ Ὁσίου Πατρὸς ἡμῶν Ἀρκαδίου.	On this day we commemorate our devout fater Arcadios.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ, μνήμη τοῦ Ὁσίου Ἡσυχίου τοῦ Θαυματουργοῦ.	On this day we commemorate devout Saint Hesychios the Wonder-worker.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ, ὁ Ὅσιος Μάξιμος λιθοβοληθεὶς τελειοῦται.	On this day, devout St. Maximos died by stoning.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ, ὁ Ἅγιος Εὐφρόσυνος, ὕδωρ κοχλάζον ποτισθείς, τελειοῦται.	On this day Saint Efphrosynos died when boiling water was poured down his throat.

Δροσοβόλον μὲν τὴν κάμινον εἰργάσατο, Ἄγγελος τοῖς ὁσίοις παισί· τοὺς Χαλδαίους δὲ καταφλέγον, πρόσταγμα Θεοῦ, τὸν τύραννον ἔπεισε βοᾷν· Εὐλογητὸς εἶ ὁ Θεός, ὁ τῶν πατέρων ἡμῶν.	In the furnace the Lord’s Angel saved the pious men, * blowing through it a dew-laden breeze, * while Chaldean men were completely burned, at God’s command, * persuading the tyrant to confess * and cry aloud, “O God of our fathers, blessed are You.” [SD]

As captives taken away into a far away country, you imitated the three godly Youths who were prisoners in ancient Babylon, O righteous and victorious Martyrs; and therefore you defeated the most hostile adversary. O prudent Saints, by the trickling of your blood, you made the rivers of conceit go dry; and thrown into the currents of the river, you came into the water of life, causing springs of immortality to spurt forth for our sake. Ὥσπερ ἄκακοι ἄρνες ὁμοῦ θυόμενοι, πρὸς δυσὶν Ἀθλοφόροι οἱ τεσσαράκοντα, πάθος τὸ σεπτόν, τοῦ τυθέντος ὡς πρόβατον, χαίροντες μιμοῦνται, πολλῇ σὺν παῤῥησίᾳ.	Like innocent lambs sacrificed with each other, the Forty-two champions with magnificent bravery gladly imitated the eminent sufferings of Him who was sacrificed as though He were a sheep. [un]

O heavenly King, uphold our rulers, strengthen the Faith, calm the nations, give peace to the world. Καὶ ποιοῦμεν Μετανοίας τρεῖς μεγάλας, λέγοντες μυστικῶς ἐν ἑκάστῃ Μετανοίᾳ ἀνὰ Στίχον τῆς ἑπομένης Εὐχῆς τοῦ Ὁσίου Ἐφραίμ.	We now make three prostrations: i.e. we recite the Prayer of St. Ephrem (quietly or mentally), and with each verse we make a bow or prostration.
Ἄν καὶ συνηθίζεται ἡ εὐχὴ αὕτη νὰ λέγεται ἐκφώνως, ὅμως ἡ ὀρθὴ πράξις εἶναι νὰ λέγεται μυστικῶς καὶ νοερῶς ὑπὸ πάντων, κλήρου τε καὶ λαοῦ, ποιούντων τῶν μετανοιῶν κτλ.	While it has become customary for this prayer to be recited by someone aloud, nevertheless the indicated practice is that it be recited inaudibly and mentally by everyone, clergy and congregants alike, with the accompanying bows etc.
Εὐχὴ τοῦ Ἁγίου Ἐφραίμ	Prayer of St. Ephrem
Κύριε καὶ Δέσποτα τῆς ζωῆς μου, πνεῦμα ἀργίας, περιεργίας, φιλαρχίας καὶ ἀργολογίας μή μοι δῷς.	O Lord and Master of my life, do not permit the spirit of laziness and meddling, the lust for power and idle talk to come into me.
Πνεῦμα δὲ σωφροσύνης, ταπεινοφροσύνης, ὑπομονῆς καὶ ἀγάπης χάρισαί μοι τῷ σῷ δούλῳ.	Instead, grant me, Your servant, the spirit of prudence, humility, patience and love.
Ναί, Κύριε βασιλεῦ, δώρησαί μοι τοῦ ὁρᾶν τὰ ἐμὰ πταίσματα, καὶ μὴ κατακρίνειν τὸν ἀδελφόν μου. Ὅτι εὐλογητὸς εἶ εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων. Ἀμήν.	Yes, Lord and King, give me the power to see my own faults and not to judge my brother. For You are blessed unto the ages of ages. Amen.
