We have obtained your protection, O immaculate Lady, and by your earnest entreaties we are saved from calamities. In everything we are guarded by the Cross of your Son. We all dutifully magnify you piously. [SD]

Remembering our all-holy, immaculate, most blessed, and glorious Lady, the Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary, with all the saints, let us commend ourselves and one another and our whole life to Christ our God.

Βλέπων ὁ λῃστὴς τὸν ἀρχηγὸν τῆς ζωῆς, ἐπὶ Σταυροῦ κρεμάμενον ἔλεγεν· Εἰ μὴ Θεὸς ὑπῆρχε σαρκωθείς, ὁ σὺν ἡμῖν σταυρωθείς, οὐκ ἂν ὁ ἥλιος τὰς ἀκτῖνας ἐναπέκρυψεν, οὐδὲ ἡ γῆ σειομένη ἐκυμαίνετο. Ἀλλʼ ὁ πάντων ἀνεχόμενος, μνήσθητί μου Κύριε, ἐν τῇ Βασιλείᾳ σου.	When the Robber saw the Author of life hanging on the Cross, he said, “If He who is crucified with us were not God incarnate, the sun would not have hid its rays, nor would the earth have quaked and trembled. I pray You who endure everything, remember me, O Lord, in Your Kingdom.” [SD]
Στίχ. Ὑψοῦτε Κύριον τὸν Θεὸν ἡμῶν καὶ προσκυνεῖτε τῷ ὑποποδίῳ τῶν ποδῶν αὐτοῦ, ὅτι ἅγιός ἐστι.	Verse: Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at the footstool of His feet; for He is holy.

Ἐν μέσῳ δύο λῃστῶν, ζυγὸς δικαιοσύνης εὑρέθη ὁ Σταυρός σου· τοῦ μὲν καταγομένου εἰς ᾅδην, τῷ βάρει τῆς βλασφημίας, τοῦ δὲ κουφιζομένου πταισμάτων, πρός γνῶσιν θεολογίας. Χριστὲ ὁ Θεός, δόξα σοι.	Between the two robbers, Your Cross was a balance of justice. One was weighed down to hell by the weight of his blasphemy, the other floated up from his sins to the knowledge of theology. O Christ God, glory to You. [SD]

Τὸν ἐξ αἱμάτων σου ἁγνῶν σωματωθέντα, καὶ ὑπὲρ ἔννοιαν ἐκ σοῦ Σεμνὴ τεχθέντα, ἐπὶ ξύλου κρεμάμενον μέσον τῶν κακούργων, ὁρῶσα τὰ σπλάγχνα ἤλγεις καὶ μητρικῶς, θρηνοῦσα ἐβόας· Οἴμοι! Τέκνον ἐμόν, τίς ἡ θεία καὶ ἄφατος, οἰκονομία σου διʼ ἧς, ἐζώωσας τὸ πλάσμα σου! Ἀνυμνῶ σου τὸ εὔσπλαγχνον.	O noble Lady, when your Son, who was incarnated * from you, and to whom you gave birth incomprehensibly, * had been nailed to the Cross and hung between two convicts, * you watched, and your heart was aching, as you cried out * with motherly grief, “Alas, what is this divine * and ineffable plan, by which You brought Your creature back to life? * O Child of mine, I glorify Your compassion and benevolence.” [GOASD]

Ἐν μέσῳ τῆς Ἐδέμ, ξύλον θάνατον ἤνθησεν, ἐν μέσῳ δὲ τῆς γῆς, ξύλον ζωὴν ἐβλάστησε· γευσάμενοι γὰρ τοῦ πρώτου, ἄφθαρτοι ὄντες, φθαρτοὶ γεγόναμεν· τυχόντες δὲ τοῦ δευτέρου, τῆς ἀφθαρσίας κατετρυφήσαμεν· ἐν τῷ Σταυρῷ γὰρ ἔσωσε Χριστός, τὸ γένος τῶν ἀνθρώπων.	A tree once blossomed death in the middle of Eden. * The tree in the middle of the earth has produced life. * Tasting from the former, * we the incorrupt became corruptible, * whereas with the latter * we have delighted in incorruptibility. * For Christ our God has saved the human race * by means of His divine Cross. Ἐν Παραδείσῳ μὲν τὸ πρὶν ξύλον ἐγύμνωσεν, ἐπὶ τῇ γεύσει ὁ ἐχθρὸς εἰσφέρει νέκρωσιν· τοῦ Σταυροῦ δὲ τὸ ξύλον τῆς ζωῆς τὸ ἔνδυμα, ἀνθρώποις φέρον ἐπάγη ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, καὶ κόσμος ὅλος ἐπλήσθη πάσης χαρᾶς· ὃν ὁρῶντες ὑψούμενον, Θεῷ ἐν πίστει λαοί, συμφώνως ἐκβοήσωμεν· Πλήρης δόξης ὁ οἶκός σου.	Of old the tree in the garden stripped us naked, * and by its taste did the enemy bring in death. * Now the tree of the Cross, which for all mankind is bearing * the garment of life, was planted upon the earth, * and therefore is all the world filled with every joy. * As we see it exalted now, let us, O peoples, cry aloud * together unto God in faith: * Full of glory is Your house, O Lord. Θεώσεως ψευσθείς, ὁ γενάρχης ἐλπίδος, φθορᾶς τοῖς ἐξ αὐτοῦ, πᾶσιν αἴτιος ὤφθη· σὺ δέ διὰ Σταυροῦ σου, ζωὴν πηγάζεις ὡς ὑπεράγαθος· θέλων καὶ γὰρ ἐπάγης, ἵνα τὸ πρῶτον λύσῃς κατάκριμα· διὸ ὑμνοῦμέν σου Χριστέ, τὸ πάθος τὸ ἑκούσιον.	When cheated of the hope of his deification, * Adam became the cause of death to his descendants. * But You, Lord most benevolent, pour out life by means of the Cross. * You, as our most benevolent Lord, pour out through Your Cross eternal life. * Willingly You were crucified to reverse the ancient conviction of death. * And now we glorify You and extol Your voluntary Passion, O Christ. Φωτὶ οὐρανίῳ καταλάμπεται, σήμερον αὕτη ἡ σκηνή· ἐν αὐτῇ γὰρ στρατιαί, Ἀγγέλων ἀγάλλονται, σὺν αὐταῖς καὶ δικαίων, χοροὶ εὐφραίνονται, ἐπὶ τῇ μνήμῃ τῶν Ἀθλοφόρων. Αὐτῶν ταῖς παρακλήσεσι, κατάπεμψον τῷ κόσμῳ σου, τὴν εἰρήνην Χριστέ, καὶ τὸ μέγα ἔλεος.	Today this tabernacle is illumined with heavenly light. For here the armies of Angels are exultant, and the choirs of the righteous celebrate with them, for the memory of the medal-winning Athletes. Ὢ θαύματος καινοῦ! ὢ φρικτοῦ μυστηρίου! ἐβόα ἡ Ἀμνάς, τὸν Υἱὸν καθορῶσα, ξύλῳ Σταυροῦ παγέντα· Τί τοῦτο Λόγε Θεοῦ ἀθάνατε; πῶς νεκρὸς ὁρᾶσαι, καὶ γῆν σαλεύεις ὡς Παντοδύναμος; ἀλλὰ ὑμνῶ σου τὴν φρικτήν, καὶ θείαν συγκατάβασιν.	The holy Theotokos, the symbolic ewe-lamb, * was watching as her Son, the Lamb of God, was crucified, * “What is this novel wonder and awful mystery? Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression. Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me. Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice. Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. For if You desired sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with whole burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken and humbled heart God will not despise. Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built; then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings; then shall they offer young bulls on Your altar. Κατατρυφήσας θεόφρον τῆς ἐγκρατείας, καὶ τὰς ὀρέξεις τῆς σαρκὸς χαλινώσας, ὤφθης τῇ πίστει σου αὐξανόμενος, καὶ ὡς φυτὸν ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ Παραδείσου ἐξήνθησας, Αὐξεντιε Πάτερ ἱερώτατε.	O godly-minded Saint, in abstinence you found enjoyment, and you bridled the carnal urges, and you grew in your faith, and you blossomed like a tree in the middle of Paradise, O most sacred Father Auxentius.
