Ἤ, ἀντὶ τῶν Ἀντιφώνων, κατὰ τὸ τυπικόν, ψάλλονται τὰ Τυπικὰ καὶ οἱ Μακαρισμοί.

An optional alternative to the Antiphons are the Typika (Psalms 102 and 145), and the Beatitudes with the appointed troparia, which are provided here.

In Your kingdom. Remember us, O Lord, when You come in Your kingdom. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [RSV]

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. [RSV]

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. [RSV]

Χρυσέοις διδάγμασι, κατεχρύσωσας σοφέ, τῆς Ἐκκλησίας τὸν στέφανον, καὶ ταύτης ἐποίκιλας, τὴν εὐπρέπειαν Πάτερ, τῷ κάλλει τῶν λόγων σου· διό σε κατʼ ἀξίαν τιμᾷ.

You gilded with golden teachings the crown of the church, wise one, and adorned her comeliness by the beauty of your words. Therefore she fittingly honors you. [VPA]

As that of the lilies of the field is the fragrance of your toils by which you were well-pleasing to God, O hierarch, in having faced dangers and afflictions in a distant land. [VPA]

Μακάριοι οἱ εἰρηνοποιοί, ὅτι αὐτοὶ Υἱοὶ Θεοῦ κληθήσονται.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. [RSV]

Ὡς ἄνθη μυρίζουσιν, οἱ τῶν λόγων σου καρποί, νοητῶς ἀποστάζοντες, τὸν θεῖον Χρυσόστομε, γλυκασμὸν τῆς σοφίας, καὶ νῦν εὐωδιάζοντες, ἡμᾶς ταῖς πρακτικαῖς ἀρεταῖς.

The fruits of your words are fragrant as flowers, having noetically distilled the divine sweetness of wisdom, O Chrysostom, and now they imbue us with fragrance through practical virtues. [VPA]

Μακάριοι οἱ δεδιωγμένοι ἕνεκεν δικαιοσύνης, ὅτι αὐτῶν ἐστιν ἡ Βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. [RSV]

Ἀμέριστος ἔμεινας, εἰ καὶ σάρκα διʼ ἐμέ, ἐκ Παρθένου ἐφόρεσας· διὸ καὶ ἐν δύω σε, προσκυνῶ ταῖς οὐσίαις, καὶ δύω θελήσεσι, καὶ δύω ἐνεργείαις Χριστέ.

You remained undivided, although you put on flesh for me from the Virgin. Therefore I venerate you in two natures, wills, and energies, O Christ. [VPA]

Μακάριοι ἐστὲ ὅταν ὀνειδίσωσιν ὑμᾶς, καὶ διώξωσι, καὶ εἴπωσι πᾶν πονηρὸν ῥῆμα καθʼ ὑμῶν, ψευδόμενοι ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ.

Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely [for my sake]. [RSV]

Ὥσπερ χρυσὸν ἐκ μετάλλων, ἐκ τοῦ βάθους σοφὲ τῆς καρδίας σου, τὰ πάγχρυσα δόγματα ἡμῖν ἐθησαύρισας, καὶ τὰ σὰ λόγια πλοῦτον κατέλιπες.

As gold from metals you gave us the treasure of the all-golden teachings from the depths of your heart, wise one, and you left to us your words as riches. [VPA]

Χαίρετε καὶ ἀγαλλιᾶσθε, ὅτι ὁ μισθὸς ὑμῶν πολὺς ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς.

Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven. [RSV]

Τὴν παναγίαν σου μνήμην, ὁ λαὸς ἑορτάζων Χρυσόστομε, δοξάζει τὸν Κύριον, τὸν σὲ ἐκλεξάμενον, καὶ καλέσαντα, εἰς τὰς αἰωνίους σκηνάς.

Celebrating your all holy memory, the people glorify the Lord who has chosen and called you unto the eternal dwellings. [VPA]

Εἰ καὶ νεκρὸς εἶ ἐν τάφῳ, ἀλλὰ ζῶν ἐν τῷ κόσμῳ Χρυσόστομε, κηρύττεις μετάνοιαν, καὶ γράφεις συγχώρησιν, ἐγγυώμενος, τοῖς μετανοοῦσι θερμῶς.

Though dead and in the grave, but living in the world, O Chrysostom, you teach repentance and write forgiveness, granting protection to those who fervently repent. [VPA]

Τὸν ἐν χερσὶ τῆς Παρθένου, καὶ ἐν κόλποις Πατρὸς καθεζόμενον, τὸν σάρκα φορέσαντα, καὶ μείναντα ἄτρεπτον, προσκυνήσωμεν, ὡς Θεὸν καὶ Κύριον.

Let us venerate the one who sits in the arms of the Virgin and in the bosom of the Father, who bears flesh and remains unchangeable, as God and Lord. [VPA]

The grace that from your mouth shone forth like a torch illumined the universe. It deposited in the world the treasures of the absence of avarice. It showed us the height that is attained by humility. Now you instruct us by your words, Father John Chrysostom. Intercede with Christ God, the Word himself, entreating Him to save our souls. [SD]

You sanctified the womb of the Virgin by Your birth, and by Your presentation You blessed the hands of Symeon, when You came, and You saved us, O Christ our God. Now we pray You give peace to Your world at war, and let love for Your people prevail in all, O only benevolent Lord. [GOASD]

Brethren, it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, blameless, unstained, separated from sinners, exalted above the heavens. He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people; he did this once for all when he offered up himself. Indeed, the law appoints men in their weakness as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect for ever. Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, a minister in the sanctuary and the true tent which is set up not by man but by the Lord. The Lord said, “I am the door; if any one enters by me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. He who is a hireling and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. He flees because he is a hireling and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me, as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. Hymn to the Theotokos.

Ἄξιόν ἐστιν ὡς ἀληθῶς μακαρίζειν σε τὴν Θεοτόκον, τὴν ἀειμακάριστον καὶ παναμώμητον καὶ μητέρα τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν. Τὴν τιμιωτέραν τῶν Χερουβεὶμ καὶ ἐνδοξοτέραν ἀσυγκρίτως τῶν Σεραφείμ, τὴν ἀδιαφθόρως Θεὸν Λόγον τεκοῦσαν, τὴν ὄντως Θεοτόκον, σὲ μεγαλύνομεν.

It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.

Εἴδομεν τὸ φῶς τὸ ἀληθινόν, ἐλάβομεν Πνεῦμα ἐπουράνιον, εὕρομεν πίστιν ἀληθῆ, ἀδιαίρετον Τριάδα προσκυνοῦντες· αὕτη γὰρ ἡμᾶς ἔσωσεν.

We have seen the true light; we have received the heavenly Spirit; we have found the true faith, worshiping the undivided Trinity, for the Trinity has saved us.

May Christ our true God, through the intercessions of His all-pure and all-immaculate holy Mother, the power of the precious and life-giving Cross, the protection of the honorable, bodiless powers of heaven, the supplications of the honorable, glorious prophet and forerunner John the Baptist, of the holy, glorious, and praiseworthy apostles, of the holy, glorious, and triumphant martyrs, of our righteous and God-bearing fathers, (local patron saint); of the holy and righteous ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, our Father among the Saints John Chrysostom, Archbishop of Constantinople, the memory of the transfer of whose holy relic we celebrate; and of all the saints, have mercy on us and save us, as He is good, benevolent, and merciful God.
