Ἤ, ἀντὶ τῶν Ἀντιφώνων, κατὰ τὸ τυπικόν, ψάλλονται τὰ Τυπικὰ καὶ οἱ Μακαρισμοί.

An optional alternative to the Antiphons are the Typika (Psalms 102 and 145), and the Beatitudes with the appointed troparia, which are provided here.

In Your kingdom. Remember us, O Lord, when You come in Your kingdom. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [RSV]

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. [RSV]

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. [RSV]

Νενευρωμένῳ λογισμῷ, καὶ σταθηρᾷ διανοίᾳ, τῶν παθῶν καταμαράνας τὴν φλόγα, ἀπαθείας τὴν φαιδράν, καταστολὴν Ἀντώνιε, περιεβάλου Πάτερ, καὶ σωτηρίου ἱμάτιον.

Strengthened in mind and measured by understanding, ⁄ you quenched the flame of passion, Father Anthony. ⁄ You girded yourself with the shining garment of dispassion, ⁄ and with the robe of salvation. [OCA]

You despised the weakness of devils, ⁄ who in their outrageous deceits took boldly the form of wild beasts, ⁄ for you had a strong helper in battle! [OCA]

Μακάριοι οἱ εἰρηνοποιοί, ὅτι αὐτοὶ Υἱοὶ Θεοῦ κληθήσονται.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. [RSV]

Ὁ θεοφόρος τὰς ἀρχάς, τοῦ σκότους καὶ ἐξουσίας, θριαμβεύσας ἐγκρατείᾳ συντόνῳ, τροπαιοῦχος νικητής, Ἀντώνιος ἐγένετο, τῶν ἀσκητῶν ἡ δόξα, καὶ μοναζόντων τὸ καύχημα.

Triumphing over the powers and princes of darkness ⁄ by the strength of abstinence ⁄ Anthony was a victorious conqueror, ⁄ the glory of ascetics ⁄ and the boast of those who lead the monastic life. [OCA]

Μακάριοι οἱ δεδιωγμένοι ἕνεκεν δικαιοσύνης, ὅτι αὐτῶν ἐστιν ἡ Βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. [RSV]

Νενεκρωμένον μου τὸν νοῦν, τῇ τῆς ζωῆς ἐνεργείᾳ, τῆς ἐκ σοῦ φανερωθείσης τῷ κόσμῳ, ἐξανάστησον Ἁγνή, καὶ πρὸς ζωὴν ὁδήγησον, ἡ τοῦ θανάτου πύλας, λύσασα μόνη τῷ κόσμῳ σου.

Let Him who appeared to the world through you, pure one, ⁄ raise my mind, deadened by the works of this life, ⁄ and guide it to eternal life, ⁄ for you have destroyed for the world the gates of death! [OCA]

Ἄβυσσος ἁμαρτιῶν.

Μακάριοι ἐστὲ ὅταν ὀνειδίσωσιν ὑμᾶς, καὶ διώξωσι, καὶ εἴπωσι πᾶν πονηρὸν ῥῆμα καθʼ ὑμῶν, ψευδόμενοι ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ.

Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely [for my sake]. [RSV]

Χαίρετε καὶ ἀγαλλιᾶσθε, ὅτι ὁ μισθὸς ὑμῶν πολὺς ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς.

Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven. [RSV]

We have you as a blessed and powerful intercessor before God, ⁄ one who shares our troubles, ⁄ our defender, champion and compassionate advocate. ⁄ Thus we are all saved from danger, temptation and distress! [OCA]

You have truly raised the fallen nature of mankind, Theotokos, ⁄ for without seed, you bore the changeless Son, ⁄ seen in divine form, and equal to the Father! [OCA]

Τὸν ζηλωτὴν Ἠλίαν τοῖς τρόποις μιμούμενος, τῷ Βαπτιστῇ εὐθείαις ταῖς τρίβοις ἑπόμενος, Πάτερ Ἀντώνιε, τῆς ἐρήμου γέγονας οἰκιστής, καὶ τὴν οἰκουμένην ἐστήριξας εὐχαῖς σου· διὸ πρέσβευε Χριστῷ τῷ Θεῷ, σωθῆναι τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμῶν.

You imitated Elijah the zealot in his way of life; you followed John the Baptist in his straight paths, O Father Anthony. You colonized the wilderness, and by your prayers you reinforced the Christian world. And now, intercede with Christ God, entreating Him to save our souls. [GOASD]

Ἄξιόν ἐστιν ὡς ἀληθῶς μακαρίζειν σε τὴν Θεοτόκον, τὴν ἀειμακάριστον καὶ παναμώμητον καὶ μητέρα τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν. Τὴν τιμιωτέραν τῶν Χερουβεὶμ καὶ ἐνδοξοτέραν ἀσυγκρίτως τῶν Σεραφείμ, τὴν ἀδιαφθόρως Θεὸν Λόγον τεκοῦσαν, τὴν ὄντως Θεοτόκον, σὲ μεγαλύνομεν.

It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.

Εἴδομεν τὸ φῶς τὸ ἀληθινόν, ἐλάβομεν Πνεῦμα ἐπουράνιον, εὕρομεν πίστιν ἀληθῆ, ἀδιαίρετον Τριάδα προσκυνοῦντες· αὕτη γὰρ ἡμᾶς ἔσωσεν.

We have seen the true light; we have received the heavenly Spirit; we have found the true faith, worshiping the undivided Trinity, for the Trinity has saved us.

May Christ our true God, through the intercessions of His all-pure and all-immaculate holy Mother, the power of the precious and life-giving Cross, the protection of the honorable, bodiless powers of heaven, the supplications of the honorable, glorious prophet and forerunner John the Baptist, of the holy, glorious, and praiseworthy apostles, of the holy, glorious, and triumphant martyrs, of our righteous and God-bearing fathers, (local patron saint); of the holy and righteous ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, and our devout and God-bearing father Anthony the Great, whose memory we celebrate; and of all the saints, have mercy on us and save us, as He is good, benevolent, and merciful God.

Fasting Rule

Κατάλυσις οἴνου καὶ ἐλαίου.

Wine: Wine and oil are allowed. Refrain from meat, fish, dairy, and eggs.

Εἶναι ἑορτάσιμος ἡμέρα.

It is a minor feast.
