You departed from the mundane distractions, and you transferred to a tranquil state, being crowned for shedding martyric blood and for your ascetic labors. Therefore you now dwell with the holy Martyrs and Ascetics. [SD]

You put to death your members on the earth by a life-giving death, and you mirrored the Passion of Christ our God, first in fine ascetic discipline, and then in martyrdom. Hence the Lord sent down double crowns upon your heads, O fathers, and He prepared for you a heavenly dwelling, an eternal place, where you now rejoice, as you dwell with the holy Martyrs and Ascetics. On January 13 we commemorate the holy martyrs Hermylos and Stratonikos.

On this day we also commemorate our devout father Iakovos of Nisibis.

On this day the holy martyr Athanasios was clubbed to death.

On this day Sts. Pachomios and Papyrinos died in a river.

On this day was the consecration of the Monastery of Prophet Elias, which was also called the Monastery of the Deep Ravine.

On this day our devout father Maximos Kafsokalyvitis, who lived as an ascetic on Mt. Athos, reposed in peace in the year 1320.
