Once you took up the Cross of the Savior Christ, * father Savas, you followed Him to the end, * and never turned back in mind to the world, O divinely wise. * Mortifying the passions through labors and self-control, * you prepared yourself to be a temple for your Lord. * Then you were rewarded with the gifts of the Spirit, * the power to drive away unclean spirits and heal the sick, * O God-bearing and blessed Saint. * Intercede with Christ our God, that He grant forgiveness of offences * to us who celebrate your holy memory with faith and love. Since to God, who knew about you before you were born, you were through virtue offered as a blameless sacrifice from the time you were an infant, O blessed Savas, you became the pride and joy of the ascetic saints, the praiseworthy populater of the wilderness. Hence I cry to you, Rejoice, O Father extolled by all. [SD]

Oikos.

As the offshoot of wisdom, O devout Savas, from childhood you longed for the hypostatic Wisdom. When it dwelt with you, it separated you from the earth and led you up on high, and weaved for you a garland of immaterial flowers and laid it on your hallowed head, O Godly-minded man. Being thus decorated, propitiate God, that I might worthily be given wisdom of speech, so that I may extol your holy Dormition which Christ our God glorified.
