Come, let us worship and bow down before Christ God our King. |
Come, let us worship and bow down before Him, Christ our King and God. |
Psalm 50 (51). |
Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression. Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me. Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice. Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your guiding Spirit. I will teach transgressors Your ways, and the ungodly shall turn back to You. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall greatly rejoice in Your righteousness. O Lord, You shall open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise. For if You desired sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with whole burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken and humbled heart God will not despise. Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built; then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings; then shall they offer young bulls on Your altar. [SAAS] |

Your first-called Disciple and imitator of Your Passion, Andrew the Apostle, became like You, O Lord. With the hook of Your Cross, he pulled up those who had strayed into the deep sea of ignorance, and He brought them to You. By his intercessions, O supremely good God, bring peace into our lives, and save our souls. [SD] |

O believers, let us extol Peter’s brother, Andrew, the diciple of Christ. He used to look in the sea to capture fish in his nets. Now he casts the rod of the Cross into the whole world to catch people of all nations, and he turns them from deception to accept holy Baptism. And now, as he stands near Christ, he prays for world peace, and he asks that great mercy be given to our souls. [GOASD] |

Within his heart, the Apostle and disciple of Christ received the noetic fire that enlightens the mind and incinerates sin. Then he shined the mystical rays of his teachings into the unenlightened hearts of the nations, and he also burned up, as if kindling wood, the myths of the pagans. Such is the action of the fire of the Holy Spirit. What a strange and awesome wonder! A clay tongue, clay nature, an earthen body, was able to receive the spiritual and immaterial knowledge. “We entreat you, O mystic and knower of ineffable heavenly mysteries, earnestly pray for us, that our souls may be illumined.” [GOASD] |

O First-called Apostle and God-seer, when you saw God, for whom you longed, physically walking on the earth, you were thrilled and shouted to your brother, “Simon, we have found the One we are awaiting!” And you cried to the Savior, using the words of David, “As the deer longs for the springs of waters, so my soul longs for You, O Christ God.” Later, adding longing to longing, by crucifixion you would pass over to Him for whom you longed, having become a true disciple and a wise imitator of His suffering on a cross; and thus you have partaken of His glory. We entreat you, earnestly implore Him on behalf of our souls. [GOASD] |

Let us extol St. Andrew, that herald of the Faith and minister of the Word. He was a fisher of men. Instead of casting a fishing line, he cast the power of the Cross, and instead of catching fish in the depths of the sea, he rescued human souls from the deception of the foe. And he brings them to God as an accpetable gift. O believers, let us ever extol him and all the Disciples of Christ, and ask them to implore Him to be merciful towards us on Judgment Day. [GOASD] |
