Mode 4.

O Theotokos, revealed through you to us on earth was the mystery, that was hidden for ages and unknown by the angels. God became incarnate, uniting natures without confusion, and for us He voluntarily accepted crucifixion, through which He resurrected the first-formed man, and He saved our souls from death. [GOASD]

Today let us extol holy Elpidophoros, * Acindynos as well, and Pegasios also, * and holy Aphthonios and divine Anempodistos. * They competed well against the tyrants as martyrs. * They dispelled the gloom of godless pagan religion. * The faithful now honor them. [GOASD]

We know you as the Mother of God and all-blameless, * for you remained a virgin indeed after childbirth. * With longing we flee to you and appeal to your tender love. * We are sinners all, but we have you to defend us. * We rely on you, O Lady. Mode 4. Come quickly.

The choir of martyr Saints that was assembled by God * invites us to celebrate their sacred feast now with joy * and sing of their miracles. * They were invigorated by the might of the Most High; * thus for their Maker’s glory and in tribute to faith in Him, * they performed many wonderful feats in their martyrdom. Come quickly, O Lord, and keep us from becoming enslaved * to foes who speak blasphemies against You, Christ our God, * and boastfully threaten us. * Annihilate by the power of Your Cross those who fight us. * Let them know how the faith of the Orthodox has power. * Only benevolent God, accept Your Mother’s prayers for us. With your body dyed red in the streams of your blood, you unhazardously proceeded down the path of martyrdom, O medaled martyr Acindynos. Girded as your were with divine strength, you broke the devices of the enemy. And now you intercede with Christ God on our behalf, entreating Him to save our souls. [GOASD]

The godly host of five illustrious Martyrs, * splendidly glowing with the Trinity’s beauty, * endured the harsh assaults of tyrants, yet they overcame. * Now, consistent with their names, they gush forth the abundant, * unimpeded, and assured * grace of God to the hopeful, * who through them piously with love go near * to Christ our Savior and God, who created all. O Compassionate Logos, wash my defiled soul in the river of Your mercy and benevolence, and illumine me with Your ever-shining light, so that I may extol the godly host of Your five holy Martyrs, Acindynos, Pegasios, Elpidophoros, Afthonios, and Anempodistos, those courageous medaled Athletes. Emboldened by Your love, they bravely frustrated every attempt to torture them, and they offered themselves as a spiritual sacrifice to You, O Christ our Savior and God, who created all. [SD]

On November 2 we commemorate the contest of the holy Martyrs Acindynos, Pegasios, Aphthonios, Elpidophoros, and Anempodistos.

On this day we also commemorate the two holy Senators who died by the sword.

On this day we also commemorate the holy Martyrs Evdoxios, Agapios, and the holy eight others.

On this day we also commemorate our devout father St. Marcian of Cyrus.

The holy women Martyrs Kyriaki, Domnina, and Domna died by the sword.
