Τὸν ἀμνὸν καὶ ποιμένα καὶ Σωτῆρα τοῦ κόσμου, ἐν τῷ Σταυρῷ θεωροῦσα, ἡ τεκοῦσα ἔλεγε δακρύουσα· ὁ μὲν κόσμος ἀγάλλεται, δεχόμενος τὴν λύτρωσιν, τὰ δὲ σπλάγχνα μου φλέγονται, ὁρώσης σου τὴν σταύρωσιν, ἣν ὑπὲρ πάντων ὑπομένεις, ὁ Υἱὸς καὶ Θεός μου.	When the Mother of the Lamb and Shepherd and Savior of the world saw Him on the Cross, she uttered tearfully, “The world rejoices at receiving redemption, but my insides are burning as I see Your crucifixion, which You endure for all, O my Son and my God.” [SD]

Μόνον ἐπάγη τὸ ξύλον, Χριστὲ τοῦ Σταυροῦ σου, τὰ θεμέλια ἐσαλεύθησαν τοῦ θανάτου Κύριε· ὃν γὰρ κατέπιε πόθῳ ὁ ᾅδης, ἀπέλυσε τρόμῳ. Ἐδειξας ἡμῖν τὸ σωτήριόν σου ἅγιε, καὶ δοξολογοῦμέν σε Υἱὲ Θεοῦ· ἐλέησον ἡμᾶς.	The wood of Your Cross was merely planted, O Christ, and the foundations of death were shaken, O Lord. Hades had swallowed You eagerly, but with trembling it disgorged You. You have shown us Your salvation, O Holy One, and we glorify You, Son of God. Have mercy on us. [SD]

O only Virgin Mother of God, * as the all-blameless Ewe-lamb, * as you beheld your only Son who from your pure blood was incarnate * to hang upon the Cross of His own will, * O Maiden, you cried out * while shedding bitter tears: * “O most forbearing Son of mine, * I hymn and I extol * Your plan for our salvation.” [SD]

Today the prophetic saying has been fulfilled. For, behold, we are worshiping in the place where Your feet stood, O Lord. And now that we have eaten from the tree of salvation, we have obtained the freedom from the passions that come from sin, by the intercessions of the Theotokos, O only benevolent God. [SD]

Παρισταμένη τῷ Σταυρῷ, ἡ Παρθένος καὶ Μήτηρ, τοῦ ἄνευ πάθους ἐξ αὐτῆς, ὑπὲρ νοῦν σαρκωθέντος, ἐκραύγαζε δακρυῤῥοοῦσα μητρικῶς· Οὐ φέρω σε νεκρὸν κρεμάμενον ὁρᾷν, πνοὴν τὸν παρεχόμενον, τοῖς ζῶσιν ἐπὶ γῆς, ὦ Υἱὲ καὶ Θεέ μου. Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. You believed in Him with joy, and you eagerly preached Him to others, saying: “The salvation of man has appeared; the Sun of Righteousness has risen.” And you became a lamp and beacon, guiding many to the knowledge of Him and to the divine Faith, and a light to those in darkness. May Christ our true God, through the intercessions of His all-pure and all-immaculate holy Mother, the power of the precious and life-giving Cross, the protection of the honorable, bodiless powers of heaven, the supplications of the honorable, glorious prophet and forerunner John the Baptist, of the holy, glorious, and praiseworthy apostles, of the holy, glorious, and triumphant martyrs, of our righteous and God-bearing fathers, (local patron saint); of the holy and righteous ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, the holy and glorious Apostle Philip the Deacon, and our Devout Father Theophanes the Inscribed, whose memory we observe, and of all the saints, have mercy on us and save us, as He is good, benevolent, and merciful God.
